Ralph Nader
There are eight million threads here about a guy who became irrelevant on December 12, 2000.

Who cares what he says now?

BFD.

Hating on him now is like beating up on your grandpa in the nursing home.

Beat up Republicans in office, fer cryin' out loud.

Hell, beat up Democrats who won't vote against funding the war!

What is wrong with you guys?

I choose to care about the future instead of the past. Am I the ONLY one here who doesn't care about Ralph Nader anymore?

Ralph Nader means nothing.

If you are so angry about the past that you want to pound someone from the 2000 election, may I suggest the VP nominee of your beloved Al Gore?

How about THAT guy?

He holds the balance of Senate power in his greasy, oil war-mongering hands. Now, THAT guy deserves contempt!

2. In the cases of both Nader and Lieberman, the only ones who deserve to be pounded...
... are the ones who vote for them.

9. Really.. did you vote for Gore/Lieberman???
A vote for Gore was a vote for Lieberman... you voted to put the biggest asshole in the Democratic party a heartbeat from the Presidency. Nice going.

13. Or I could ask them how they put up with so many
pathetic no life fucking losers on a site that used to have some meaning and influence. But that would be a waste of time, kind of like responding to some armchair asshole who won't take responsibility for attempting to put Joe fucking Lieberman in the Vice Presidents chair. But that's neither here nor there, just let me respond in kind to your brilliantly literate statements. Fuck You too... There you go, now you can cry to the mods about the third party guy who can't read or write.

16. You're goddamned right, I voted for Gore. Proud of it, too.
In case you didn't realize where you were, this is the DEMOCRATIC UNDERGROUND site. Not the GREEN site.

You do realize that if Nader hadn't run in '00, there wouldn't have even been a need for a recount, that Gore would have won handily? And to be honest, I'd much rather have Lieberman wasting away as the VP than in the Senate, if it meant having Al Gore as president. Sometimes you have to take the bad with the good. Besides, VP Lieberman (as much as I despise him) is still a HELLUVA lot better than VP Cheney.

7. Did you even read my post?
My point is, how is Nader relevant?

Gore would be President today if he had stood up and demanded that all the votes in Florida be counted. He caved.

I'm sorry to break it to you.

8. It's not Nader, it's the people who voted for him
that everyone is pissed off at. Believe me I'm on the receiving end of the "Nader backlash". You see, many people on DU don't have enough to do attacking Conservatives, they need to feel superior to Progressives as well. It's a I have no life except on DU so I need to blast anyone who even thinks of disagreeing with me. This place used to be pretty open to any progressives but now unless you are a certified Democrat and march in exact lock step with the party you are not welcome here...

17. You're stating a false choice -- I blame both Nader and Lieberman!
However, Nader gets the majority of my blame, especially since he filled his pockets
with GOP gold.

18. Nader gets all the blame - the OP's premise is flawed
Gore didn't lose because people were voting against Lieberman as VP. That's ludicrous. Nader drew votes away from the Democrats, plain and simple. Even a few thousand of those votes in Florida would have been enough to put the contest out of reach, without even needing a recount. I'm still upset that Gore didn't fight for the recount, but we shouldn't have even needed it.

19. Oh, I'm not upset at Al in the slightest
He made a mistake and we're all allowed a few of those. Lieberman, however, has turned out to be an even
bigger jackass than I ever thought he'd be -- as has Nader (although Ralph's fall has been farther).
