Laura Bush at Fashion Week
She is pathetic. She's nearly invisible most of the time and has done not one productive thing in her role as First Lady but flap her gums uselessly about teen boys and Afghan girls. She doesn't even use her leisure time to throw State dinners a la Jackie Kennedy and Hillary - the White House certainly hasn't been the cultural gathering place other First Ladies made it. Surprising, considering she's the press's sainted librarian and literary maven. I guess when you hit the hay at 8:00 it's hard to invite guests who WORK for a living during the day. BUT she can make it to fashion week looking like her mannequin/zombie self (in fact, maybe she was doing something useful by providing a stiff form to throw the "matron outfits" on when they weren't being walked down the runway...).

Anyway this picture just incensed me, because she's supposedly there to "promote" women's heart disease, but the fact is her husband's little adventure in Iraq makes it unseemly for her to be at a fashion show when she should be wearing something black while somberly paying respects to the dead as they are unloaded from the planes at Dover AFB.

3. She dresses like the bore she is.
Same suit, different fabric most days of the week. Boring, boring, boring.

Plus I agree she (and all the rest of the BFEE and the Chimperor's court)should stay home and quit carrying on as if they aren't killing thousands of people.

6. Perhaps some of the designers will get her in a room and have a
fashion intervention.

I wouldn't mind the way she dresses if she was a woman who just didn't care about fashion, but I always get the feeling that Pickles thinks she looks great in whatever chair cover she's wearing.

7. You can't really throw a State dinner
when the First Lady is drugged/liquored up all the time and the Prez only wants to eat grilled cheese
