Computer question about updating DU threads
Okay, I'm pretty dumb when it comes to computers. I have a very slow dial up connection. On my computer, I have to hit "discuss" in order for new threads to appear. They won't come on otherwise. It takes a few moments each time. Does everyone have to hit "discuss" to get new threads, or is there an adjustment?
I sometimes just hit "back" in order to save time, but then don't get new threads.

1. The Back button does not work for me, and ...
sometimes, neither does the Discuss link. I always refresh the page.

2. *Sometimes* you can hit the stop button if loading seems to take forever.
I've also been known to keep a GD window, and a LBN window open. Then choose a thread from each to open in other windows. It kinda cuts down on the 'antsy' factor. :D
I do just hit refresh buttons on the main windows, though.

3. Browser cache is full or too small so your system seems to be doing a full
reload every time. Second your history storage days is not set or none at all. I store 1 days of history so that the back button will work. Seems you need to do a run disk cleanup and defrag from the systems tools.

4. No, it's working right
He's getting a cached page from the back button and a fresh reload from clicking the link.

5. Yes, you have to click discuss
or click the reload icon or press F5 to see new threads and posts. There's no adjustment that'll fetch only new threads. Maybe if the forum someday is rejiggered to use so-called Ajax you won't have to re-fetch the entire page, but until then, that's the way it works.
