British troops 'kill 36' in Iraq attack - I wonder what they are doing with all the bodies?
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/iraq/article1948519.ece

British-led commandos launched one of their deadliest attacks in southern Iraq early today, when airborne troops raided Shia Muslim militia targets suspected of smuggling deadly explosives from neighbouring Iran.

According to eyewitnesses and military reports, at least 20 Iraqis were killed and 100 injured in the fighting which raged for two hours in around al-Amara, the capital of restive Maysan province. The city’s general hospital said put the death toll at 36 Iraqis killed. Separate raids were made in the nearby town of Majjar al-Kabir.

The raid provoked an angry response from local leaders who claimed that most of the casualties were civilians caught in the crossfire. snip

“Sixteen people were killed and 14 wounded, including two women and a child,” said Latif al-Timimi, a provincial council member. “Most of the dead were killed in bombings as they were sleeping on the roofs of their homes. Those killed were residents and not linked to any political party.”

1. Flippant, don't you think?
While the premise of your post is clear, I find the manner in which you have delivered it in error.
"I wonder what they are doing with all the bodies." Let us join together as progressives and realize the greatest tragedy of this occupation: the toll bore by a voiceless, choice less, all but helpless people, the Iraqi people. During the years of the dictator, ethnic groups were oppressed or targeted, violence arrived on your doorstep, as an Iraqi civilian, for any political mis-step reported to the proper intelligence services.

And now, we, the greatest country in the world, have invaded and brought with us inept management (political, logistical, and military). And what price has this cost the people of Iraq? Their lives. Their loves ones. Their limbs. Their sight. Their blood, their sweat, their tears. Their children. Their schools. Their mosques and churches. Their electricity and potable drinking water. Their oil. Their chance.

We owe it to them to look at this situation not as liberal or conservative, not as members of red states or blue states, not even members of the UNITED States. We should view this situation as citizens of the world. And make no mistake, the world cries out, as it does in so many places, in Iraq. And we ignore its cry for justice and life when we view this in a partisan light.

Because BOTTOM LINE, the Republicans did not pass the resoultion authorizing force in Iraq alone. They did not authorize the war spending on their own. Regardless of leadership, we have broke it, so we have damn well bought it. And if we do not have the resolve, the moral fortitude to win this war, let it never be said that someone didn't tell you of the consequences. Because they are more then we can afford.

So let us take the bitter sting out of our tone. Let us not forget that our GOP brothers and sisters are in fact, our brothers and sisters, however misguided (or outright corrupt) they may be. And when we adopt this attitude, then and only then will the American people finally give us the mandate we sorely need to change the direction of this world and this nation.
