Yesterday I was in the hardware store and the women clerks
were going gaga over a teddy bear dressed in camouflage fatigues that played "God Bless the U.S.A." I nearly herniated my tongue holding it. I should have bought one and told the old biddies I was going to send it to some little Iraqi kid who lost an arm or a leg in *'s war.

1. It's a good thing Chris Matthews hasn't seen it yet

You know he is with things in military dress-up.

2. I feel like I'm the only one like this
I was at the Texas Rangers game last week, and the Army had parachutists landing on the field to that God awful song. Then, they swore in these young men and women into the service - wait, let me clarify - CHILDREN into the service. People were standing and cheering while I kind of muttered "cannon fodder" and "bring our troops home." I felt I was one of the only sane people there, and I wondered if there was someone among the 30000 (besides my brother, who feels the same way) that felt like I did.

7. Thanks, I know my DU friends would understand
It would have been so refreshing to see other folks thinking the same way I did. And maybe there were some -- they just may be afraid to express their true feelings at such a tent like revival that was going on at the Ballpark.

4. That get's the old gag reflex going.
I can't believe they are still pulling this crap when the majority are against this nightmare of a war. :puke: :puke: :puke:

9. I can't help but think there had to be some there against the war
even in Bushbotville. I mean, really, don't they want our troops home?

5. most of those people don't even watch the news. They have no clue
I know-I live in that area. They think saying"I support the troops"is the end of their commitment-and anyone who has ANY opposition to the war is an Un-American malcontent who deserves a public hanging.

10. You're right. Bringing the troops home is not supporting them
such convuluted logic, isn't it?

8. I hate that song - mainly because Lee Greenwood is a creep.
I know him, unfortunately.

Once, we were at some sort of fundraiser (can't remember the charity) and he was standing along-side of me when a Dolly Parton impersonator strode by. He looked at me and snidely said, "Gee. It must be nice to have an impersonator come to these stupid events instead of having to attend them yourself."

:eyes:

Petty little - and I do mean TINY - man.

11. I'm so happy to see you had your baby
How are the nights going? I'm surprised you have the energy to even post here. My brother and sister-in-law just had a down's baby, and they are exhausted, to say the least. I took my brother to the Ranger game last week -- first time he's gotten out of the house since Andrew was born in April.
