If we can't have impeachment, we could at least restore the Gore administration.

I'm really impressed by what Moore says.

I've had PLENTY of problems with Gore in the past, but I think he has "grown" a lot. I don't think anyone in particular is the great fixer, and I can just as easily get behind Kucinich, or even Obama. I was looking at a picture of Kucinich yesterday and thinking "why CAN'T this man be President?" I just don't think he has much chance at the nomination. Gore does.

Take my OP with a grain of facetiousness and a grain of fun. If Gore IS strategizing a run, it's genius.

ON EDIT: Plus, it's Friday Night.

8. I'm there for Al, so long as he hurls his handlers into the deepest parts of Hell
Al must be Al, and he will crush the bastards. By the way, crushing our enemies at this point is what I am into. I was into negotiations in the Tip O'Neill/Gerald Ford eras, and even when Reagan and Bush 1 were presidents. Now, crush the opposition. Let them hear the lamentations of their supporters, as the cries of the families of the dead and those who support the Constitution have wept. I seek no negotiations. Crush them, or let them crush me, but the U.S.A. can't exist as I and Lincoln and Washington and FDR envision it, versus how Bush and Cheney envision it. So bring it. They win on power, we win on numbers.

17. Gore . . . "the savior" . . . ???? hmmm......
Hi Randi --

Was able to catch part of your program today re Gore and while I don't think it's the worst thing that could happen to Democrats -- "Gore/Obama" -- but I do think that you have to be willing to ASK GORE SOME QUESTIONS . . . .

1) Why didn't he stand up against Bush in 2000 re the election steal?
There were many opportunities -- including the final one when all he had
to do was provide one Senator's signature to the black
caucus so the election could be challenged.

2) How do we know he wouldn't do the very same thing again?
Does he regret any of this?
Of course, you hear rumors that he knew the thing had been well and truly
stolen and nothing could be done.
When is he going to tell the public that?
Or is he going to just leave us all in the dark in that regard?

3) Why did he pick Liebermann as Vice President -- a right-wing conservative
and on top of that a religous fanatic?
And, of course, Gore had to have known that!!!
What does he have to say on this issue right now?
Would he have other nasty surprises like that in store for us?

4) When is Gore going to start talking about Electric Cars--?
Is he really willing to challenge the car manufacturers, who are obviously
allied with --if not co-owned by the oil industry?
See: "WHO KILLED THE ELECTRIC CAR?"

5) Why did Gore co-Found the conservative wing of the Democratic Party which
has taken it so far astray from it's progressive/liberal agenda and
deepened its relationships with corporate-elites?
Gore and Clinton were co-founders of the DLC!!!!
Obviously, this disunites the party -- and shifts power in the wrong
direction.

6) How about Gore's advice to Clinton that he should actually go ahead and
overturn 60 plus years of New Deal Welfare Guarantees?
Whose interests did that serve?
What more of the New Deal is he willing to overturn?

21. #1"...in our system, there is no intermediate step between ...
a final Supreme Court decision and violent revolution. So, at that point, having taken it as far as one could, then the question becomes, are we going to be a nation of laws and not people?" Gore replied.
http://www.dnaindia.com/report.asp?newsid=1100316

#2 see above

#3 - good question, he's been very quiet about that. I'm guessing the 'consultants' decided who his running mate should be, and he didn't disagree with them.

#4 Al Gore and electric car star in films unveiled at Sundance
http://www.grist.org/advice/books/2006/02/02/bree/

#5 ...Al Gore was also a founding member of the DLC, but when he ran for president, he gave a speech to the Democratic Convention that the DLC found unforgivable.

Gore portrayed himself as a man who was on the side of "working families" and against the wealthy and the "special interests -- whether it was the drug companies, the insurance companies, the HMOs or big oil.

The DLC did not like that. It believes such "populism" turns off swing voters, who tend to be more affluent.

And while you're there, check out my video, "Al Gore, Hope For America." I was so tickled when they contacted me and asked if I would shorten the original video and focus in on Gore. Of course I had to think about it first (NOT!) and voila, it's hosted on their front page now.

I would LOVE to see him jump in.

I think he should run based on that fact that he is someone who would write what he writes in "The Assault On Reason." We need a candidate like that. Someone INTELLIGENT.

He doesn't have to run if he doesn't want to. I won't really be pissed if he doesn't run, just disappointed. I was just acknowledging - with a little HUMOR - that IF he is considering running, there are people like me who will get on board.

If you thought I was being sarcastic, then I apologize for not being clear, but it seems to me that most who read it, got it.

Did you not click on the links I put in the OP - one of which takes the reader to this: "Moore came to see Gore as a brilliant, brave, sincere and, yes, humorous politician who would be great for the country, great for the world." ?

41. You're absolutely right.
He's been through a trial of historic--even mythical--proportions.

He is now much larger than life and represents more elements than just one man as a president.

He will perhaps represent an astonishing shift in human consciousness. My hope is that he can have the broadest, most powerful position from which to (daily) bring this shift about.

42. That's because he was destined for even greater things
And I don't know why so many people place so much on the presidency. You would think we didn't live in a Democracy with the worshipping of one title over the great amount of work passionate citizens can do to bring about change... I think he sees that and is actually on the road to doing something even greater than any president could do. As a matter of fact that is the only way anything of substance had happened in our history. But of course, on a "political" board that kind of vision seems to be missing to a great degree.

44. ...and FDR was "chopped liver"?
I don't buy your theory that Gore would be neutered as the president. I think he's stronger than that. FDR had the people behind him--each and every single day--he was heard and reported upon.

This is getting to be beyond absurd.

Your kind of vision may require some adjustment to reality via an as-yet undiscovered form of pharmaceutical.

If you continue to insult others, fully expect to be revisited in kind. It is delusional for you to ascribe motives, lack of integrity as well as hypocrisy to others when they disagree with your unconvincing harangues.

It's grown to be bizarre and appalling. Congrats, I think you're now officially a DU legend. :-)
