(How sad that war trumps Americans) - New Orleans turns to international aid
http://thinkprogress.org/2007/06/15/new-orleans-turns-to-international-aid/

New Orleans turns to international aid.

“The cash-strapped city of New Orleans is turning to foreign countries for help to rebuild as federal hurricane-recovery dollars remain slow to flow. Kenya Smith, director of intergovernmental relations for Mayor Ray Nagin, said city leaders are talking with more than five countries. He wouldn’t identify the countries, saying discussions were in the early stages. But he said the city is ‘very serious’ about pursuing foreign help.”

1. Ron Paul doesn't believe in aiding New Orleans
For the seriously misguided Ron Paul Adoration Society - he thinks local people should solve their own problems and subscribes to the notion that the people of New Orleans would have been just fine if they hadn't waited around for the govt to respond. Stated on Tucker Carlson yesterday. That's Libertarianism in full color.

7. Oh geez
I wasn't directing that at you personally. I've got no idea what your views are on Ron Paul. That was a generic post for the Ron Paul people in general. He may be right on Iraq, but he's wrong on so much more than I wouldn't want him in the White House.

8. I didn't think you were, I just hadn't bothered to listen to his views
so was surprised.

10. "Solve their own problems?" "hadn't waited for the government?"
New Orleans was relatively unscathed by Katrina but the federally built levees burst and flooded and killed. So I guess per Mr Paul, New Orleanians, at that moment, adopted the levees as their own.

4. the feds turned down aid at the time
Truckloads of relief equipment from Canada were turned back at the border -

bush thought it would make America look "weak" to accept aid...

i guess if he rides his bike into quicksand, we should fold our arms and say "climb out, tough guy"

5. Is it hard work to act surprised to learn over and over that America doesn't care
Edited on Fri Jun-15-07 02:51 PM by RGBolen
about Louisiana? America and Americans have never cared, don't care, and never will care about Louisiana. Stop acting surprised to "learn" this fact every time something like this hits the news.

13. Whatever you say - not. Yes, it's hard to believe my country has turned
into what it is. I think the ouster of one man and his cabal can change a lot of things drastically for the better. If just about any other person had been in office in August 2005, I doubt things would have gotten so bad.

9. I bet the gov't responds by putting out articles of how NO wasted money
the gov't has already given to Katrina victims.

Watch, RNC/Bush is going to go on a Katrina victims smear campaign.
