US voices full backing for Abbas - Does taking sides help?

WASHINGTON - The United States gave its full backing Thursday to moderate Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas after he sacked the Hamas-led unity government and declared a state of emergency.

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice defended Abbas’s decision to dismiss the government after fierce fighting in the Gaza Strip that has taken the Palestinian territory to the brink of civil war.

“President Abbas has exercised his lawful authority as president of the Palestinian Authority and leader of the Palestinian people,” Rice told reporters.

1. What's It Matter Now...

The booooshie regime has never been an honest broker in this region and Rice is an international joke...nothing she says is taken seriously. If anything, a U.S. endorsement is a kiss of death as we are now viewed as the backers of the Likudniks and repressive Arab regimes...always on the wrong side from a Palestinian's perspective.
