Quinnipiac Poll: Bush down to 28%
65% of the American people, nearly two-thirds disapprove of George W. Bush as president and slightly more than a quarter or 28% approve. 7% just can't decide, apparently.

On the Democratic side here are the results for the '08 race for the nomination:
Clinton 35%
Obama 21%
Gore 18%
Edwards 9%

Against Giuliani it is a tie or virtual dead heat:
Clinton: 45
Giuliani: 44

Gore: 45%
Giuliani 43%

Obama: 42%
Giuliani: 42%

Clinton: 44%
McCain: 42%

Obama: 43%
McCain: 41%

Gore: 44%
McCain: 41%

Why are the democrats in such close races against these Republicans when the country is in the shape it is?

1. Because the Democrats haven't been linking the repubs to Bush policys yet
When they do, especially if we get Bush II like McCain or Rudy, the repub numbers will plummet.

2. But The Repiglickin' Media Hasn't Even Kicked the Mighty Slime Machine Into High Gear Yet
Edited on Wed Jun-13-07 03:03 PM by AndyTiedye
If our candidates are barely beating Gouliani NOW, we need better candidates!

The same poll that shows ** at 28% shows our best candidates TIED with warmongers Gouliani and McCain.
The Repiglickers on the TV continue to coo about how wonderful and "moderate" they are and that's all it takes.

As we already know, a tie isn't good enough. Close isn't good enough.
We have to win by a huge margin or they will steal it again.
The fact that it is close NOW is very bad news. The Mighty Slime Machine is just getting warmed up.
Where will the numbers be after they have been to pumping up the Ghoul and sliming Hillary every day for months on end?

4. We are 17 months from the election
There is no need to panic. The flaws are there, and will be exposed when a repub is nominated, if not before during the primaries. I still strongly believe that we have not seen all the candidates enter in yet.
If things are as screwed up as they have been in November 2008 I think the Democratic candidate will win easily. People will still want change, probably more than ever at that point. And the Repub isn't going to be able to run on that. One thing that will be clear no matter what- given a bungling, weak congress the President is the one position that matters more than any other in changing direction. Hopefully this obvious lesson will not be lost on America.

5. Strongly agreed
You are right. Close is nowere near enough. They will sleeze and play hardball. We will need a candidate who will play serious hardball. I don't think that it is Hillary. She will compromise and try and smooze. It won't work just like it didn't work for Kerry.

3. Or because our congressional leadership is making our party look completely helpless.
