The Republican National Committee is hitting Sen. Barack Obama this morning for his backtracking from his long-held support for a controversial plan to promote the use of coal as an alternative fuel to power motor vehicles.

The attack, sent in an e-mail to reporters and other interested parties, suggests Obama made the change to "pander" to MoveOn.org and environmentalists, despite his traditional support of the significant coal industry in his home state of Illinois.
