7. Yeah, I know he is. He's still a political appointee
who towed the Bush line, and that's enough for my contempt to be warranted

11. I think he was fired because he would prosecute when he didn't have a case
So while he is a repuke, I think he is not happy about why he was fired.

17. Yeah -- but that's sort of my point
A modicum of integrity is the exception for republicans, so when we find one with just a teeny weeny bit, we act like they are heroes.

I will change my mind about them when they denounce Bush and all of his crimes -- until then, they are all the same to me

Edited on Tue Jun-05-07 03:52 PM by MiniMe
edited because apparently I don't know the difference between a hearing and a meeting.

21. DOJ
Thought Civil sanctions, such as a requirement that the defendant not drink alcohol, against a convicted cross burner were too severe.

24. There is an article on Todd Graves on Huffingtonpost(I think..I read
Edited on Tue Jun-05-07 04:06 PM by MasonJar
the post last night) and it is quite interesting. It seems that he was the one prosecuting the pharmacist who made millions while diluting cancer medicines. He had a cancer in his groin at age 21 while attending college . The doctors said that it would most likely be fatal, but the chemo saved him. He wanted to give the $18 million + to the victims and their families, but the Justice Dept wanted the money for the Treasury. Read the story; he comes off as a hero. Later when he was fired, he began to wonder if his stand for the victims was the reason...which knowing this callous bunch, it undoubtedly was.

27. That's admirable, but it's also typical.
He sounds like he does the right thing where it personally involves him. That's sooooooooo republican. Quintessentially, in fact.

Whether one does the right thing, or heroic thing, when it doesn't involve them, that's the real litmus test isn't it?

26. He thought DOJ was doing something wrong, but he couldn't stop it
So he slowed down the work on it, but he knew it would go forward after he left. He couldn't stop it.

28. Leahy came back to give a speech, included Justice is supposed to be blind
And hearing was recessed. Only Whitehouse questioned Graves? I wonder if they will ask him back. And where were the repukes?
