Without Running, Gore is in THIRD!!!!
Imagine if he WERE running. How many people DON'T choose him in these polls because he isn't running? Imagine if he were.

In the USA Today Poll, he placed third behind Clinton and Obama with 17% as a first choice candidate. As a first or second choice, he is 35%, still in 3rd behind Clinton and Obama.

He beats out all the secondary contenders, soundly. If Gore were to run, I have no doubt he would be squarely in first.

President Gore, it is time to RUN! I wish you would.

He's exactly what we need. Personally, I cannot find one candidate from either party who I would support 100% at this point. Simple - if Gore ran, he would win. Hell, he did the first time.

58. Can't think outside the box, can we? Gore has plenty of time to enter the
nomination process.

Just because others started running 8 years ago, doesn't mean they are the only ones worthy of consideration.

By the way, shouting your subject doesn't make it any more believable.

The dog and pony show the corporate media's running is demeaning....

Al Gore doesn't need to deal with that- and if he does run, I highly respect him for refusing to play by their rules.

That's EXACTLY the kind of person this country needs-

63. When Gore first announced his bid in March 1999, he was 15-20 pts down to Bush
Clinton's sex scandal was still fresh in everyone's minds. Gore's team took a poll about Clinton during the general election campaign. Independents said that if Gore campaigned with Bill Clinton, they would not vote for Gore. That's the primary reason why Gore didn't campaign with Bill Clinton in 2000.

Tiny margin?

It's a shame that the people's will is not only usurped by election fraud and dirty tricks, but by the antiquated electoral college as well. That damn thing gets gamed like a conman's favorite scam.

16. I love Gore, but I've come to accept why he shouldn't run.
He basically has this historical role to play. He needs to show us that the power to act against global warming lies in OUR HANDS, whether or not the government is with us, and unfortunately its critical at this point, with the amount of entrenched corruption in Washington and so little time to act. Whoever is in the white house in 2008 will preside over more distaster than anybody ever, so it might as well be somebody who can take the punches, who can look bad for the benifit of all. For this reason, this person should not be the world's leading advocate of fighting climate change. It should be somebody like Hillary, because history in the 90s will rescue her of the perception that what's going on is her fault, IMHO

Edited on Tue Jun-05-07 04:05 PM by RestoreGore
Do you honestly think this is what he wants people who read his book to continue to do? Spewing poll numbers? Poll numbers put out by the very media he excoriates in The Assault On Reason for their emphasis on such trivialities compared to issues? And why continue to show pictures of the past when we should be moving to the future? He doesn't look good enough to you now?

I don't know what's going on in his mind, any more than anyone else. I personally would love to have him president just because I admire him so much, and to at least give him what he rightly earned. But there's always a larger picture, and whatever he decides I support.

Edited on Tue Jun-05-07 10:28 PM by insane_cratic_gal
While I'd like to see a woman in office during my life time, I want it to be a woman I can get behind. Not one who panders to the republican party for votes or who's too afraid of her own shadow to tell them all to go piss off.

I'd pick Gore of Hillary, over Obama, Over Edwards and Over Dodd.

It happens rarley but every now and again someone comes along and inspires you, makes you believe (or best yet makes you WANT to believe). Gore is that person for me.

Reagan's wins. He needed one more vote to win the electoral college and Bush needed every single Florida vote to beat him by one in the electoral college. I know he does not want to run, especially against Hillary. However, this new news on Global Warming is frightening. Perhaps Gore will be personally compelled to enter the race. I doubt he will do so before the big July global concert. He is so busy with his book tour and plans for that monumental event. He must be exhausted. By September he will need to decide.

and Schultz's response was just plain stupid. He said Gore can make more of an impact doing what he's doing now. The caller had to remind him that nobody makes an impact the way the President does.

Al Gore would blow away the competition. If he runs, he's a shoe-in.

already know how he feels about the Iraq occupation, the NSA spying, the other illegal activities of this admin., and global warming. His base is already there just waiting for the word. I am more than happy to wait few more months to have a great candidate to work for. The 500 day reference is until the election, not to how long he can wait before announcing. Point is, this is very early, historically. :hi:

Assuming he's running, he's got everyone dancing to his tune. Since he's not declared, he's free to speak his mind without getting drawn into the power games.

That said, even if he did declare, I'd still back Kucinich (albeit only just, I'd actually be torn).
