And maybe Ronald Reagan? And what about Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton? I guess they're out of touch too. It's kind of interesting how the Republicans can look past it in their cases, but when someone's a little liberal, they pounce using that "out of touch" BS, isn't it?

Maybe it's just the Republicans who are out of touch?

1. And don't forget Ahnold...
And they call liberals the "Hollywood elite". I don't get it. We don't elect actors. They do.

2. Oh yeah, I forgot him.
And wasn't Sunny Bono a Republican?

Actually, I can't think of anyone off the top of my head who was an actor and ran for office as a Democrat.

7. Helen Gahagan Douglas. . .
was a well-known Broadway star in the '20s before moving to Hollywoods after her marriage to actor Melvyn Douglas in 1930. She starred in one big-ticket flick, She, released in 1935. She entered politics in the '40s, served three terms as a Democractic Congresswoman, ran for but lost the Senate race in 1952 to Richard Nixon. She's best remembered as the person who gave Nixon his best-remembered nickname, "Tricky Dick."

8. Sonny Bono most certainly was a Republican.....
The whining on the Right about Hollywood is such crap. You're right. I don't think any Democratic actors have run for office.

9. A couple have, but not as many in recent years...
most of the people I've never even heard of. I went and looked it up in Wiki just to give me some general direction, and I couldn't really find that many.

5. Can you even think of a Hollywood actor who ran as a Democrat?
Edited on Sun Jun-03-07 01:57 PM by originalpckelly
I don't think I can off the top of my head, maybe someone else has someone in mind.

I found one so far: Not an actor, but John Hall ran on our side, and Al Franken will run next year.

And  Jerry Springer was the Democratic Mayor of Cincinnati!

13. Ben Jones, who played Cooter from "Dukes Of Hazzard," was a Democrat
from Georgia. His district was gerrymandered into Newt Gingrich's, if my memory is correct.

That ain't no TV screen. It's a mirror.

11. Who the hell is Fred Thompson?
Seriously. I have never heard of him. Must be another talented, A-list Republican actor.
