Consumer confidence extends rise in December (good news for 2010)
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091229/ap_on_bi_go_ec_fi/us_economy

"The index, which hit a historic low of 25.3 in February, had enjoyed a three-month climb from March through May, fueled by signs that the economy might be stabilizing."

When consumer confidence goes up.. so does buisness confidence, and then expansion and rehiring (the lagging indicator) steps up.

This looks like we could be well into a rehiring phase by the 2010 elections.

That with a passed HCR act and Iraq winding down should be a boost for our canidates.

Historically, because we have made such huge gains the last two elections, you would think we should lose seats..but do I see the sun rising in the east.. ahh yes I think I do

1. I think you are right. I have been watching indicators for some time, and some
of them are looking good for a few months now. There is something called the Baltic Dry Index, which is a daily report of the cost of shipping dry goods on various specific sea routes around the world. It is a good economic indicator because it is concerned with the amount of raw materials being bought and sold, that will be made into manufactured products.
It is up from its low point of a year or so ago, above the the average from before the recession/depression.

It indicates that manufacturers have invested capitol in the belief that orders for finished goods are going to rise. This translates into jobs.

2. Excellent news, thanks
I have been recalling lately when early last year various liberals I was listening to on the radio were saying that the economy was ruined and nothing was going to get better, only worse.
