1. Hi CTLawGuy. I know that feeling, feeling it more frequently lately.

But I still like DU, the people here who aren't disruptive and nasty, and while I would be interested in visiting a site with fewer haters, I would still come here.

I'm wondering if the mods are going to start regulating a little more closely as we approach election day next year.

I don't think anyone is against legitimate disagreement or criticism, but little around here qualifies as that.

- For example it was posted that Obama doesn't care about poor people, and anyone who thinks otherwise is basically an idiot.
- It gets posted that he is a warmonger because he doesn't take the strategy in Afghanistan that people want him to.
- He gets accused of continuing the "Bush Doctrine" when the Bush Doctrine has to do with justification for invading a country in the first place and has nothing to do with strategy once we were there. (Considering Bush HAD no strategy for either war it's kind of amusing that the phrase "Bush Doctrine" is used in this context.)

It's harmful to our cause. If we are going to have any chance at being able to govern long term in this country, we have to stick together.

I think they're using "bush doctrine" bc bush's thing was pre-emptive strike ala sadam hussein and like it would have been in Iran if mcpalin had gotten in.

It's basic knee jerk not having enough knowledge to actually know what they're whining about.

I am African American and I love(d) DU but this is way to hateful for me around here.

The reason that I say I am African American is that as much as I love the Barack Forum , it is like the only place those that are working to work WITH the eleted officials is on this wonderful forum -- the back of the bus.

As a life long, loyal Democrat the hateful posts and hurtful attacks against a Democratic President, by self proclaimed Democrats makes my skin crawl.

When folks try and post something calm, and reasonable they get jumped.

It's strange to allow this level of vitriol to be remain on a public form when it's clearly associated by the public and media to be supportive of the Democratic party because it's called the Democratic Underground.

Maybe they should change the name.

And I understand. Many times when I leave I think I won't come back here. I read the nastiness about our president and wonder who these posters really are. Did they come here just to tear someone down and now that W is out of office, Obama is the target? I could read the same BS on FR if I wanted to read that crap! I don't! I thought TOS meant DU was supposed to be the place we could come and get away from the constant negativity.

Guess not.

The talk about 2010/2012 staying home just makes me ill. Then let the teabagger party waltz into office as the Democrats are busy fighting with each other. That makes alot of sense. NOT! See how much those golden ideals matter when President (fill-in-the-blank GOP) takes office.

PS: and what they REALLY hate is seeing Obama getting praise for anything. The more Obama is loved, the more their resentment towards him is going to grow. That's just the way it is.

21. That's the conclusion I've come to...

about those who started pouncing so early. Some are genuinely disappointed in the course of action or inaction since Obama has been in office, and they just can't take more disappointment, but the majority of the "venom and vitrol" being displayed started really early on and has simply increased.

I'm glad I just remembered this group is here. :)

American, I get what you're saying about those of us who support President Obama have been regulated to come to this forum to discuss what goods Obama's done - and it's a lot! Sadly, I don't know of any other sites. DU was always the go to for me but God knows, not anymore.....
