Poll question: Arrgggg, Hillary as VP?
I hate how this news about Hillary is "open to accepting" the VP spot under Obama has slipped out this afternoon.

Nothing "slips out". Everything is planned and for her to say this is one of two things: she's begging for the spot, or the deals been made.

Could we get behind the idea of Hillary on the ticket?

Is she more trouble than she's worth to Obama?

1. HATE the idea
and I doubt that once I "calm down" I will change my mind. I was livid when I just geard it on TV. I see it as one more (not last) attempt at manipulation and one more example of unfair play and deep-core lack of class. Unity my ass! By puting this ou in the open, if Obama does not do it it will be seen as tyhe ultimate slight. I am fuming!!

2. Don't like it
Michael Baisden was saying for her to mention this now only gave ammunition to the GOP.

3. No, but not the worst option
In the past week there was a story that Obama might offer her a spot such as Secretary of Health and Human Services in order to ease her out of the race.

As much as I don't want her to be VP, I would prefer her as VP than as Secretary of HHS. There is a much greater chance she'd have an adverse effect on things which affect me directly at HHS. As VP she would hopefully have less influence over health care, or anything else.

I don't think we have to worry. The position she really believes she is entitled to is Queen of the World. With any luck she will continue working towards this goal as opposed to settling for a minor job in the Obama administration.

4. It makes me uneasy
My support is for Obama, not against Hillary. But I have always seen her as the best chance of the Republics to rally their troops.

5. I'm not happy, either
If she is the VP, she comes fully equipped with all of her baggage and bumbling and sense of entitlement.

I'm not happy that her horrendous campaign behavior and willingness to destroy her own party's chances for personal benefit will be rewarded in any way. I really just want her to go away.

6. i'm not sure i'm totally against it
my problem is with him feeling pressured or forced to put her on the ticket rather than them actually thinking she will help the most.

if they are willing to do that then the thought of her as vp candidate and vp just makes me less excited since i feel Obama will be battling with his own VP over what direction to take.

7. Until yesterday
I very much disliked the idea. Now I am 1000% against it. Chutzpah aside, the underhanded way in which she is trying to apply as much pressure as possible NOW is yet another example of 1. "me, me, me! the rest be damned"; and 2. the shocking inability to strategize past the tip of her nose (not always, but often enough), because if she really wants the VP nod, I think (hope?) that what she did yesterday reduced her chances from slim to practically nil (while at the same time HURTING the party and Obama's chances, but hey, who the hell cares about that!). When I heard the shouts of "Denver! Denver!" yesterday, and she did nothing but smile, I went ballistic inside.

8. We cannot get beyond the idea of Hillary - the other option for her

When advising PN Obama on taking a hard line with Senator Clinton it should be understood that she has one last option besides hoping for a 2012 run (which I do not believe they really consider as they know that Obama will be the force now and in 2012).

She could make an enthusiastic endorsement of Obama for Prsident.

She could then decalare her candidacy for Vice President.

While on the surface it would seem far fetched, I doubt within the world of Ickes/MacAuliffe/WJC it is far fetched at all.

The nomination of Vice President is based on the will of the delegates and she would have enough hard core delegates that they would have no difficulty getting it heard on the floor. While recent history has made it the pick of the nominee that is only a political convention, the rules and votes are actually based on the will of the delegates.

If she made her support of Obama for President unconditional and enthusiastic it would dampen a lot of criticism that such a move will invariable make.

For this reason PN Obama will undertake a diplomatic engagement of Senator Clinton, and cannot as some have advocated, simply ignore or brush by her.

9. Two reasons why this would be completely unacceptable
1) The RFK references. She knew goddamn well what she was saying. And there's also the fact that there have only been two so-called "unity tickets" in recent history. JFK/LBJ was one. Reagan/Poppy was the other. And what happened BOTH times??

2) Change is not compatible with the 50 ton boat anchor known as the DLC. And the Clintons ARE the DLC.

10. Also Clinton's debt...
Clinton's campaign owes a LOT of money to Senator Clinton herself. I would hate to contribute to a presidential campaign knowing that my contribution may end up going into Senator Clinton's pocket.

11. I will vote for Obama no matter who he picks
But I think Hillary would be a terrible VP. I don't trust her at all mostly because of how easily she lies. Obama doesn't need that kind of person on the ticket with him-there are too many other great choices.
