Precinct 347 caucus in Galveston Couty 72% Obama 28% Clinton
(cross posted from GD: P)
My little precinct! I was so PROUD! 4 years ago I was the ONLY person to show up. Tonight we had 118 sign in!

I served as Secretary.

Of the Clinton supporters, most were very nice. The gal who was volunteering as precinct captain was very nice and helpful. There was an elderly man there who kept saying, "They told me to get the envelope." Um no... we got it covered, thank you. He even tried talking the precinct judge into making us give it up,but he was having none of that. The judge knew our Chair from past elections, so he knew we were on the up and up.

2. We had 12 delegates and 12 alternates to fill, and had exactly 24 people sign up!LOL
We had a vote, but it all pretty much fell into place with about half the people really wanting to be delegates, and half just wanting to be involved as alternates. I made a little speech to explain what to expect at the next level, because I wanted to be sure that people would be prepared to listen to a few ours of resolutions and stuff. I want people to go who really want to fulfill their duties as delegates, so I think that is where the results fell.

It was really fun seeing so many people HAPPY and MOTIVATED about supporting a candidate... especially in a state where we have been beat down for so long!

3. That's awesome Lisa!!
I sure am surprised at the difference between the rural east and the rural west though. If our rural voters could be transplanted to the east, Obama would have swept the country. On we go I guess. Good news for your precinct!

4. The returns on the news right now do not include the caucus votes either...
Those have not been reported yet.

For example, in my precinct, the election day tally (not counting early voting, juts TODAY), Hillary won by ONE vote. However, the caucus was overwhelmingly Obama! So even if she holds that 2% lead, I am still confident we will win Texas overall when it is said and done.

6. I agree Lisa that since the delegate split on voting is almost even
We set out to accomplish what we said we would. We'll get more of the caucus vote for Obama. It's not over in Texas, and overall while I really feel we should have won the popular vote, we did out damn best in digging under that Clinton firewall. Barack survives to move on to more wins.

We won the early vote substantially!
