Barack and the Genocide in Darfur: HBO Documentary
(this is an excellent documentary .. Obama comes front and center for his work)

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - HBO has acquired "Sand and Sorrow," a documentary about the genocide in Darfur, and plans to air the film in December.

Narrated by George Clooney, the documentary chronicles the events that led to the rise of Darfur's Arab-dominated government, provides an inside look at the situation on the ground and examines the international community's "legacy of failure" to respond to such profound crimes against humanity.

"The tragic events taking place in Darfur unfortunately are a continuation of the lack of response from the international community in protecting millions of innocent lives from their own government," said the film's director, Paul Freedman.

"Sand" follows human rights activist John Prendergast, Harvard University professor Samantha Power and New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof as they travel to mass graves inside Darfur and refugee camps along the Chad-Sudan border, as well as to the U.S. Senate. It features interviews with Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel, Senators Barack Obama and Sam Brownback, Sudan scholars Alex de Waal and Gerard Prunier and rebel leader Minni Minawi.

1. I wish Barack would allow the Oceans 11 guys that work with him on Darfur
to endorse him publicly. I think he's trying to keep some distance from Hollywood, but this work on Darfur is germane to his overall foreign policy.

Thanks for posting this.
