Those of us who really work with the party.. are getting beat down with the "teach the Democrats a
lesson crowd"

They are clueless to what we have to deal with, and work with. I get up and just keep going, but even I can only haul so much before I get dragged down.

My issue is the crowd that cheers on and supports taking down Democratic canidates to teach the Democrats in Washington a lesson. I am not sure what they think they are doing, but those of us who worked hard to things through out here, could see them go to the wayside.

I had an op out there, trying to explain how hard it is for women to get elected in Iowa. It is tough.. But as Iowa has really gone blue, and we have gotten issues through that few other states have, including health care for kids.. (hawkeye insurance.. covers kids for 10.00 for families..) the green movement with ethanol and wind energy. We are number 2 in the nation with wind energy.. and even gay marriage has passed our courts.

But everything rests on keeping Democrats in office long enough for these to become etched in to the stone of our culture and society like Social Security. So that people will not try and overturn it.

Well folks, there is a push from the right.. hard right.. we could lose our Democratic governor and state house.. there is a push to overturn by legislation the rights to marry for everyone, limit insurance for kids.

If this lets send a message to DC group keeps pushing and trying to influence, we could lose everything we have gained in this state.

This rant is not about shutting down discussion, but it is about helping those of us on the ground and not kneecapping us.

I do not want to start from ground zero again. Thanks for listening.. Emily

1. Sadly the teach the Democrats a lesson crowd are partially responsible for the defeat
a self fulfilling prophesy if you will. Still the lion's share has to go to Coakley for running a God awful campaign.

2. True..I just do not want this to spread... Terry Branstad (R) has
jumped back in the governors race, (you start getting people pining for the good old days? which has nothing to do with what our Democrats inherited) and Culver (D)like all Democrats is not too popular right now

A lot of the send a message to DC crowd were never Democrats to begin with..

6. The fault is mostly Coakley's campaign as you say, but there is another problem
The 60 votes was never a reality because the Democratic party does not march lock and step

The problem is this:

We cannot win elections unless we are inclusive, and its hard to pass legislation if we are not united

I don't think the prospects look very good unless the economy improves and the job market get substantially better

3. They can crow all they want..
They weren't into reality before the election in Mass yesterday and they're not there now.

They're saying Mass voted for the rw steve brown bc the Health Care Bill wasn't good enough for them?

There was a lot going on in Mass besides any explanations people come up with who want to blame Pres Obama.

And in the words of John Kerry.. "Tonight’s results will be analyzed and overanalyzed by the punditry. I hope as a Party we don't succumb to the temptation to form a circular firing squad. It does no one any good. One lesson Ted Kennedy and I both learned from defeat is, you just pick yourself up, dust yourself off, chart a course forward, and get back in the fight."

5. I am that volunteer that gives people rides to the polls, calls to remind people to
vote.. pays for the honor by contributing to the to the local party..(they hit me up last week ;)..and tries to answer questions for people.

My heart goes out to those in Massachusetts who do what I did, those on the board who did it from their homes in other states.

I really really resent some of the ops up in GD and GDP,

You know, if you want to send a message.. well withhold donations and let them know why.. Money talks, trust me.

But when you see the promotion of a republican teabagger..well basically it is just throwing dirt on us peons in the field as we work.

4. They are even wrong
The interviews showed that it was the independents and that the Democrats did show up and supported hcr. They keep repeating it on the main boards just like Republicans do, then others of them pick it up as if it were fact.

7. And, here's "5 TOP Lessons Learned"
in yesterday's election from Steve Benen that have nothing to do with the Health Care Bill.
