1. Does anyone know what the NYPD's
reason for this obvious illegal seizure is?

I can't find any official response to this.

2. It's not hard to figure out
there's a case in California where prosecutors had a grand jury demand the videos made by a similar "independent reporter" which has become a 1st amendment fight, and a contempt of court case. The prosecutors there still do not have the videos they want of whatever protest it was (it's been a while since I read the details).

Possession being nine tenths of the law, the cops in the NY case apparently decided to save themselves and the prosecutors a lot of grief and simply steal the camera, lie that the camera was abandoned, and employ the videotapes in their prosecution efforts. Much red tape was saved in the process.

3. I'm speechless. Please take this to court
What are our rights as far as having police confiscate stuff? The way he was threatening with that baton he looked like he was trained militarily or something. I kept thinking I was watching another country.

This is weird since I just watched "Terrorstorm". we aren't allowed to post the link here, ironicly.

4. Why is NYPD defending a bunch of thugs and goons.
The Oaxaca movement is one of the mose compelling citizen movements in years.

They should be universally admired across the country...but the're not. Why? I think it might have something to do with an American press that's bought and snold before it publishes one word, runs one tape, issues one slick stock magazine.

Outrageous.

5. It's fast becoming, "Another week, another crooked cop on camera"
Thank God for Youtube and video cameras damned near everywhere.

Unfortunately, no one seems to want to prosecute these thugs hiding behind badges.

7. Cops have always been thugs, even in this country.
They will attack anyone they're told to attack, and they'll choose to attack anyone who gets in their way. Look at history. And look at the video tapes like this one.

Cops may be necessary, and they may do a lot of good, but at times they're the worst criminals. Many, many cops should be the ones in prison.

8. Flux... I conacted the NY branch of the ACLU and shared with them.
They were very interested. They will look into it, consult their lawyers, etc.

I will post more if/when I hear back from them.

Thanks for your service! Let's try to keep their ass to their fire. Your video is priceless.

9. Have you sent any of this
to the media, either in NY or elsewhere? A TV station might pick this up as part of a segment (e.g. regarding the recent NYPD shooting), and a paper might use it for a news brief. I suppose in NY, there's so much of this, though...

12. wow.....great video
you rock, man.

i hope you sue the asses off of those criminal cops and get a big monetary award from the city. when you get rich, come on down to costa rica and we'll drink cervezas on the beach.

i just want to point something out:
you stood up for your political beliefs and for your constitutional rights against well armed thugs with badges. you're a true patriot. now compare that to the 101st keyboard division freeptards that talk about how they support the war in iraq but don't lift a finger to back up their words. they are true cowards.

that's the difference between a DUer and a freeptard, my friend.

13. WAY TO GO FLUX!
I'm glad as hell that they didn't split your skull in the process, bastards!

In case anyone doesn't know already, and knows now for sure, Flux is an All American fucking HERO with his roaming camera..

He was at the White House when I was filming the Downing Street Memos in the basement of the capitol, and as I raced to the White House to catch Conyers handing over 500,000 PLUS signatures demanding ANSWERS from the Bush admin re Downing Street, I barely made it and had shitty footage (having run there from blocks away), but Flux was RIGHT THERE as usual and had Incredible Footage of Conyers being forced to stand there like a Pizza guy until the White House folded and accepted the signatures..

Flux recognized me before I realized who he was, and promptly handed the footage to me right there on the spot, since I was trying to get the word out, and I was floored. I've worked with people before that would kill rather than had any footage over, and there he was getting the DAMN WORD OUT, just like he always does.

He's one of my personal Heroes, and Goddamnit, If I'd been there, I guess *I* would have had the split skull my friend, because THAT IS BULLSHIT. PERSONAL PROPERTY.

Too bad you couldn't tell ONE of the COPS to ARREST the other for STEALING YOUR CAMERA :)

GREAT work, glad you're all right and I hope the ACLU kicks the NYPD in the BALLS, and they end up BUYING you a whole damn studio!

You ROCK my friend.

I knew I wasn't going to be able to edit the footage because I was heading to the BioTech Convention the following day. Ended up put out 9 videos from the convention.

they're here (scroll down for the others)
