I keep hearing that Obama isn't electable, and that Hillary will lose to McCain.

Watch this video and then tell me, are you still worried?

1. You know what grinds my gears
Everytime they replay that "Agents of Intolerance" clip where Al Sharpton gets lumped in with Jerry Falwell.

2. John McCain - more of the same
John McCain - more of the same
John McCain - more of the same
He's as much an independent and a maverick as I am Republican.

3. So ironic that he was smearing Romney over flip-flopping
Who needs campaign ads? Just play this video a few times on national TV and the election will be wrapped up.

5. I agree but I'm biased. I also have a good memory...
...and remember similar can't lose statements in 2000 and 2004 (of course losing is questionable in both cases, but you know what I mean). We were beaten - in effect - twice, by a bumbling ignoramus with less of a CV than McCain, less of a compelling life story than McCain, less of a "good vibe" amongst the masses than McCain, who could speak even less well than McCain, and surely made more gaffes than McCain.

Now true he had the advantage of at least fairly broad support amongst his own base unlike McCain, but who really wants to bet that the Reps won't fall in line as always this time too when it matters?

6. Yes
I'm worried. The Republican machine is organized, ruthless, shrewd, devious, manipulative, and flawless.

The Democratic machine alienated its base. See the article titled "Chicken Doves" by Matt Taibbi in the Rolling Stone. It betrayed the peace and anti-war movement.

At this point, Clinton and especially Obama should end the catering to the Right and stop trying to win voters from the Republican side. She and he should begin to energize the progressive base that is in the midst of choosing to vote Green, support Nader, or support Gravel.

I am worried that two things are going to happen:

1) The Infamous Spoiler Situation --- Nader runs and "takes away" votes from the Democratic nominee. I put quotes on "takes away" because I do not believe anyone is entitled to votes. Obama and Clinton are not progressive enough, are not demanding REAL change, andt as long as they fail to be adequate, the people of America should vote for people who take up real issues like Nader, Gravel, or McKinney.

2) Fail to Frame Debate - When hope and change meets the threat of terrorism in the summer of 2008, just watch how fast Obama or Clinton will begin to defend their records on national security. Just watch how fast they begin to emphasize how they support the military and troops in Iraq. And just watch how the support for them that they used to have in the primaries de-energizes.

So many are tired of the lesser of two evils game. And thankfully, many are opting to not play it this year in November.

7. Don't worry so much. Everything is going to work out just fine.
The dems have learned from the past mistakes. This time will be different. We will vote in mass. We will be heard.

The republicans are so disgusted in their candidate, they won't even come out.

If we are voting 3-1 ratio, there is no way we lose.

8. The GOP Party is closer to being dead than the Democratic Party
I don't think they want to put R.I.P on a tombstone in November. The GOP will have their constituents out in force. They will vote or the terrorists will win.

9. Betrayed?
You can't be betrayed by someone if they were never on your side in the first place. And it was never any big secret, those who were pro-war then are pro-war now, those who were genuinely anti-war then are anti-war now

10. Either way
I do not see McCain losing. Especially if he is going to do what I think he might do...Have Lieberman be his vice president.

12. I'm always worried...
... and here are some reasons why.

So far the turnout has been tremendous, not just in Dem numbers but in comparison to Repub numbers. Our turnout has dwarfed theirs, even in Kansas!! Nonetheless, national polls put Hillary in a tie or even behind McCain. Obama is ahead lately, but 6 points does not translate into certainty in November. Shouldn't BOTH of our candidates be way ahead by even more given the huge disparity in turnout numbers? They're not and the question of why needs to be asked and answered.

If Hillary wins the nomination what happens to the exuberance of African Americans and young voters come November? It's naive - I think -to believe that they'll come to her just because she's the Dem nominee.

If Obama wins it he will be depending on the youth vote. I have posted before my concerns about that but I'll be redundant. The political landscape is littered with losers who believed the youth vote would put them over the top. Now I'm hopeful that this year will be different and they will change that trend. Bit I'm also fearful and a little cynical as well. They've turned out in huge numbers so far. Will they do so when it matters most, in November? We'll see.

Last, I get REALLY worried when I read about our inevitable victory this year. We won in 2000 and Gore is not President. We may have won in Ohio in 2004 (count me among those who aren't so sure) and Kerry is not President. We on the left knew in 2004 how bad a President Bush was, is and will go down in history as and yet we lost to this failed chief exec.

If you want more evidence that the inevitable isn't always that, look to our own party. We once had an inevitable nominee. She ain't anymore.
