1. You will never hear of any other family members from candidates
being treated as rude and crude by the media as HRC's.

2. That is true.
I can remember back to when they made fun of Chelsea Clinton. I can not imagine how hard that was for Bill and Hillary to take. I have two daughters and I would never want stuff like that said about them. It is only when it crosses the line, as with Schuster, that someone takes notice. All of the other times, it goes on without a word from anyone.

12. Shuster Suspended!
Here is a link the whole video, and the whole apology. You decide.

3. Nice apology
Edited on Fri Feb-08-08 04:44 PM by Blue_In_AK
but I don't see how he couldn't have seen that it would be taken as pejorative. I'd be pretty pissed off if I was running for an office and my daughter was making calls for me and then some media type said that I was "pimping her out." Why in the world shouldn't Chelsea be making calls on her mother's behalf?

I like David Shuster, but I think he was sort of tone deaf this time around with his original comments. Maybe because he was on Tucker he let the slime contaminate him.

5. I thought it was lame
The typical "I'm sorry if you were offended" apology.

7. I forgot my sarcasm smiley.
It reminds me of once when I was ripped off by someone years ago, and then when I talked to this individual 20 years later and confronted him on it, he said, "I didn't take your money, but I apologize since you think I did." What the fuck is THAT supposed to mean? It was pretty darn obvious since he and the money were there when I left, and when I got back two hours later, the money was gone and so was he, and I never saw him again in my life. A little off topic, but Shuster's apology is like that.

8. The typical non-apology apology
Not, "I'm sorry for what I said", but "I'm sorry if you were offended by what I said". Implying that the issue is with the people who were offended.

He earned his suspension well.

10. It was wrong of him to use those words.
But I can also see it's a little weird that Chelsea is calling superdelegates, asking for their support. Even if she is over 18.

Chelsea should be doing work with the under-30 crowd, thanking volunteers, phone-banking voters etc.

Bill should be the guy who calls all the superdelegates.

If I am a Senator or House member, and Chelsea calls and asks me to support her mom, I'm on the other end of the line thinking - what the heck is going on here??? :eyes:

On the other hand - if Bill calls - it's kinda tough to say no.

11. This video has VERY SELECTIVE editing!
It completely cuts out the 3 minutes that he goes on complimenting Chelsea prior to the "pimping" comment.

Without seeing that, it makes him look like a complete asshole. I saw the WHOLE video, and this is very misleading.

Yes, he should not have said pimping... but he had a valid point.

22. I agree. Here we have Shuster, one of the best on MSNBC,
ready to be thrown out, with the baby and bathwater, by many here. He made a mistake, but was not trying to insult. I remember how good he was at explaining the Valerie Wilson story.

A highly paid network/cable professional should not have suggested that a former First Daughter is being "pimped out." That's the sort of crap we expect from Limpballs' Losers and the Keyboard Commandos over at FR. Has anyone in Corporate Media ever suggested anything similar of the Bush Twins? Or questioned their involvement? No, they know better -- it wouldn't be tolerated. But they do know they can sling all the mud they want at the Clinton family...

No wonder democrats keep getting beat up on.
You could be knocked over with a feather.
David Shuster is one of the last decent reporters on T.V. and was obviously kidding around and was
laughing the hole time.
Get A Grip.

28. Just rediculous
The Clinton's don't need to be president if they are this sensitive. I don't like Clinton or Obama but I can only think this reaction is going to hurt Clinton more then it hurts MSNBC and I'm appalled that they gave Clinton an apology at all and I plan on letting MSNBC know I'm with David on this. It was just a phrase people he didn't call her a prostitute.

God the Clinton's are petty and no Chelsea is not the only presidents child who has had insulting remarks thrown at them. When you choose such occupations you have to have thick skins and teach your children to ignore such remarks also. But I can't see what was so terrible about this comment. At least he didn't call her a nappy headed ho. If I ever thought about voting for Hillary I would never do it now this is just outrageous and I hope it bites her in the ass big time. I hate to say it but McCain is looking better all the time. If it weren't for his stance on the war he really would be a better candidate then either of the one's we have.

He may or may not have offended her. Let him apologize to her first.

Then MSNBC can decide what it wants to do.

If the media would stop looking for ways to attack Clinton, and stick with the f'in issues, they would be fine. What the hell is a reporter commenting on Clinton making phone calls?

20. lmao
You guys are HILLARious.

He made a sad attempt at using a term that is finding it's way into more people's mouths all the time. It was stupid but LOL when taken this way.. it's completely appropriate.

Hillary IS pimping out her daughter... it means she's making her work for her.

Anyone who gets angry about this... a: needs to take a vacation.. and b: is probably 50+ years old.

31. LOL
Yes, I would say he was pimpin' out his sons.

Would I call the bush twins sluts? no. That isn't what he said.

It's what people all read into his words. Mistaken people.

It really is quite funny how people are making such a big deal of it.

"THE WORLD IS GOING TO END BECAUSE SOMEONE MIGHT HAVE POSSIBLY INSULTED CHELSEA OHHHHHH."

I'll bet she took less offense than the majority of you people.

"It's completely appropriate" if you have no couth. Sadly, many in this country do not. A professional would NEVER have suggested that a former First Daughter is being "pimped out." Were the "Five Brothers" pimping for Mittens? Yeah, I didn't think so.

For the record, I just got back from Europe, am under 50 and don't live and die by urbandictionary.com.

26. So it's proven...
The Clintons are Republicans. Come on, how many times have you seen, in the last several years, some Republican deliberately misunderstanding an innocent remark by a Democrat, and demanding an apology? It's *an idiom,* Stupid.

29. And one more thing
We haven't yet voted in Ohio and I had no intention of voting for either Obama or Hillary. Well at least not until now. Even if I don't plan on voting for either of them in the general election I now think I can pull that lever for Obama in the primaries. Thanks Hillary for making up my mind for me.
