1. So, I shouldn't be a citizen?
Or does this proposal just apply to brown people?

2. I guess a Republican adminstration would be deciding which people born here...
...are citizens and which aren't, if Ron Paul has his way.

4. It probably means that your parents would have to be citizens for citizenship at birth.
Most likely this would require a constitutional amendment, but with the courts we have these days it might not.

8. I will NEVER understand
who those people are who insist that, if Dennis Kucinich doesn't win, then the nearest choice would be Ron Paul......WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!!

The two could not be further apart idealistically. DK is a bona fide progressive liberal. He may be too far to the left for many people, but his ideals are SANE......Ron Paul is an out and out WHACK JOB!

He would propose doing away with Social Security, public education, Medicaid, federal contributions to unemployment, the IRS, FEMA, and on and on.....The man is NUTSOID.

You could not be more correct! This man should NOT be a hero to liberals, and those to whom he is a hero are obviously not paying attention!

9. Geez, half the country wouldn't be citizens then
My parents certainly wouldn't be citizens. My mother's parents came here from Hungary, my father's from Russia. This was in the first decade of the 20th century. (Both sets of grandparents eventually became citizens.) Do you realize how many Americans here are the children of (legal) immigrants over the last 100 years? It is what America is built on: the Irish, the Germans, the Italians, the Polish, and the many many later generations of immigrants from Asia and Africa and the Middle East.

That is downright insane.

14. No, you still would be
Your people were the white kind of immigrants, uh I meant the "right" kind.

I'd say I can't believe this racist MF has any support on DU whatsoever but there are people here who have espoused the same thing.

10. We need a United Nations protocol on citizenship.
Some countries refuse to recognize it when a person chooses to become a citizen of another country. Greece used to identify people as citizens and require them to serve in the military although the people were citizens of the U.S. Some people are stateless because they are born in countries that do not grant citizenship based on birth to parents of countries in which the parents cannot bestow citizenship. I think that is or was true of Palestinians at one point.

It is time to close the border on illegal alien invasion of our nation.
