great show but it was decidedly a 70's show.

2. Yeah, it has to be.
Since the show took place in the 1970s and that election was 1968. Probably just reminiscing.

3. I remember Nixon saying during that run, "Anyone who can't end the war in
Viet Nam in four years doesn't deserve to be President". Of course, his tune changed when he ran for re-election and the war was still going strong...
