Near the end of this video Thompson gives himself a free pass for voting for the Iraq War because Democrats on the intelligence committee also voted for the Iraq War and thought there were WMD's. That's a preview of Republican strategy in the general election. Nominating ANY candidate who voted for the Iraq War means Democrats can't speak with authority about Iraq. It removes any advantage we have on the issue. It will be flip-flops at the Republican convention and "I was for it before I was against it" all over again at a time when people are looking for someone with conviction and judgment.

1. Oh, please...
"The analysts said it was necessary, that it would work. Well-paid analysts, I might add. They were wrong. And we were wrong to believe it. Some of us realize that mistake and don't want to repeat it. You elect a Republican, you'll get a repeat of the same, because NONE of them want to admit it was a mistake.

"It was a mistake. A dangerous error. And one that I, at least, will not make again."

2. So we go forward with a candidate
who has to constantly admit a major mistake on the most important issue of the election? Does that make someone look like a leader you have confidence in? Not for most people it doesn't.

3. We've had 7 years of a leader who won't admit to ANY mistakes...
Do we really want more of that?

Tie them to Bush, throw them in the water, and watch them get dragged under.

"This war was HIS (Bush's) baby. And my Republican opponent was on-board all the way. Still is, as a matter of fact. Republicans don't MAKE mistakes. Or, at least, they don't admit to them. So tell me, is a mistake a mistake if no one admits to it? The buck stops nowhere."

4. The popular vote went to Bush in '04 for not admitting his mistakes.
Is the Democratic Party going to make the same mistake again of nominating someone who looks like a flip-flopping hypocrite every time they open their mouths about Iraq. That sad part is that it doesn't really matter what any candidate who voted for the Iraq war says about it. People won't hear nuance and reason. They'll see flip flops and bad judgment. Its not fair but that's how it will play out with the public just like it did last time.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

7. Even that's questionable...
And four more years of disastrous policy decisions have turned a lot of people around. It's not the same world as it was in '04.

5. If Thompson does become the next president, who is he MOST LIKELY to
...listen to? The interview began with Thompson using the neocon talking point that "the Iranian people will be throwing flowers at their U.S. liberators" bullshit.

Then he goes to using the neocon smoke and mirrors talking tactics that "...you have to have the best intelligence you can get and go with that" crap.

Then he uses the neocon back-stepping where we get pushed into a corner "there are only bad decisions no good ones, so you go withe the best of the bad only after you have exhausted all other possibilities" snow job!

Translation, "Just get me elected president and I'll give you your god-damed war with Iran!"

To do that Thompson will be listening to the same people who are running the show from the WH right now. :wtf:

6. Edwards responds to this very well.
He says he was wrong to have trusted Bush. His mistake was trusting Bush.

10. But Obama has a better answer
He says that Iraq is "a war that should never have been authorized".

I accept Edwards is sincere when he says it was wrong for him to co-sponsor the IWR.

But showing remorse is not the same as paying the price for your mistakes.

I guess you could say it's a "slam dunk". B-)

8. "Iran's economy is in shambles" ??? sayeth Thompson
This ass is completely clueless. He is the next Great Pretender stabbling in the dark so consequently he vomits senseless garbage. How much of this ignorance are Republicans willing to put up with? And then there is Rudy G. Good grief, I almost pity the GOP.

9. I'll bet the Mr. Potato Head people are ecstatic
That not just one, but TWO of their characters, have made it to the Sunday morning lineup. To have Mr. Potato Head interviewed by Timmy Turniptop will bring respect to vegetables everywhere. No longer will they have to lay in bed waiting for someone to unplug them, now they too can have their (useless, blathering drivel) opinions valued.

What a pasty, pureed putz Thompson is!
