This was from July of this year. It's interesting to have this background in light of what's happening in Pakistan now.

1. We shall see what happens.

The Al Qaeda in Pakistan constitute a real threat to peace in the world. Whether Bush has the intelligence and courage to focus on that real threat rather than on the phantom Al Qaeda threat in Iraq is the question. If Bush were going to handle the problems in Pakistan, you would think he would have done so already. This is getting curioser and curioser, more and more intriguing. I do not want to say what I think might happen next.

2. I hope we're all wrong about "what might happen next" - it's just that it's

almost impossible to hope for a positive outcome after what we've become accustomed to during this administration.
