1. And that was funny how?
Amy Poehler as Kucinich was whore-able.

The only way that skit could have been redeemable would have been to end it with Brian Whatshisname coming in and saying "Okay- that's a wrap! Thanks everyone for attending the debate tonight!"

2. It's very Dean-Screamish Coverage
I was deeply involved in the Dean campaign, and though the news networks were certainly in the lead to trash Dean for his enthusiastic scream, all of the talk and comedy shows chipped in massively. I noticed the demeaning portrayal of Kucinich being played as a woman too, and just thought it was more media manipulation.

It is everywhere, not just on the cable and network news. Minds are manipulated daily, and for those who think our press is free and diverse, well, they are the ones that get the most manipulated. Perhaps the one exception would be for the idiots who actually think our media liberal.

14. They always have the women play the shorter guys.
Tom Cruise is always played by a woman on Mad TV,
although that is probably for more than one reason.

4. Amy Poehler is a right winger. I can tell by the way she acts.
when she does her "news" section. Tina Fey was the Democrat and now she's no longer there.

10. SNL has sucked for about 13 years. Not 20.
1986-1993 was their second golden age. Carvey, Hartman, Nealon, Jackson, Hooks etc. were funny. A lot of the sketches were awesome in those days. Mid 90's is when they jumped the shark.

Life doesn't go on forever. :P

6. That wasn't really Kucinich? I thought he was guest hosting!
It was a pretty funny sketch, for SNL. I liked the way they mocked the conspiracy theorists with the "we've already decided Hillary will be the nominee"!

21. oh right
'cause the allocation of time and questions during the debate doesn't reflect an obvious bias for Clinton and (to a lesser extent) Obama?

What color is the sky in fantasyland?

8. This SNL sketch was anything but funny
Do they even HAVE writers anymore? Morey Amsterdam and Rose Marie would have been ten times funnier that that shit.

 :puke:

9. SNL used to be funny
Edited on Sun Nov-04-07 10:05 AM by windoe
when Ackroid, Chase, ect were there, because they had good writing and were actually standing up to NIxon & his ilk--not pandering for the corps. Now too often it is obvious that they have been overwritten.
(I must really be geezing now...old fart alert!!)

11. I guess this is what you get when the Producer of the show is for McCain.

At least that's what the current issue of Rolling Stone says (40th anniversary part 3) about Lorne Michaels.

16. I thought the guy was Canadian....
Anyhow, the show sucks. It has sucked for years, and I fail to understand why it is still on air. I mean, does anyone watch that program anymore.

I watched it a while back, I am normally out and about on Saturday evenings. I watched the intro, and I did not know the name of any of the comedians they had in the line up. The initial sketch went on for ever, and it was not even funny. Even the freaking actors did not know where they were going with it, and they had this look of "please kill me now."

Anyhow, I think I ended up falling sleep or switching to HBO... it was not only not funny, it was painful to watch. Ugh..

25. Looks like Dodd is his man and Al Frankin who used to be on
SNL when it was honestly funny. He gives to McCain every year it appears but not as much as Dodd and Franken this year and these are both good men and progressive democrats.

12. I wish comedians would quit making fun of Kucinich and start paying attention
Edited on Sun Nov-04-07 11:23 AM by Voice for Peace
to the substance of what he's saying. Even the 'best' of the humorists are undermining an urgent & cogent message by ridiculing Kucinich's quirks, and thereby misleading their audiences. Pisses me off. Their jokes aren't even funny enough to justify them for ratings purposes.

22. It's a shame that most people don't take the time to know
the candidates. They would feel the same way you do about Kucinich. They are too superficial. That's probably why * has been able to survive and destroy.

13. SNL hasn't been this offensive in a long time
and it's really only their treatment of Kucinich that's offensive. Having a woman portray him in a screechy voice is bad enough, but worse was having him/her quip "I'm not telling him (Gravel that he's out of the debate). That guy's nuts!" Get it, a nut calling someone nuts? Haha.
They've been way over the top in smearing Dennis all season. I wonder if they haven't brought back Dennis Miller as a writer. :puke:

24. The reason I like SNL
is the satire. I think it is funny. Dennis Hammond does a great Bill Clinton, Al Gore, and Dick Cheney. Will Farrell was hysterical as Bush.
