Only One: New Bill Richardson ad

This new ad has testimony from the two hostages that he won release from Iraq in 1995. This was the negotiation he has talked about several times where he crossed his legs and revealed the sole of his shoe to Sadaam. He didn't realize that it was an insult to most Arabs. He recovered from that setback and, without apologizing to Sadaam, was able to convince him to release these two US citizens.

It is like Richardson dropped from the DU radar.

I'm realistic and realize that Gov Richardson will never be a favorite here at DU. He's a very long shot for the Democratic nomination. However, he'd be very formidable in the general election. He has the lowest negatives and vote against of any candidate.

Heck, I originally supported Bob Graham for the 2004 election. That shows you how I pick candidates. I tend to like the wonky straight talkers with unique approaches to problems.

I keep hoping that maybe Richardson will gain some new momentum now that he has vastly improved his debate and speaking style. One of his difficulties is that he doesn't really fit in with any special voting block. He's very liberal on the Iraq War, international relations, the environment, and civil liberties. However, he's moderate on fiscal policy and conservative on gun issues. That's a hard platform to get a single Democratic block behind but a great platform for the general election.

4. I also think that he'll have the best chances in the general election

against any of the Republicans running.

He needs more media coverage.
