52. One-Trick Pony
Edited on Tue Nov-22-11 02:24 PM by stonecutter357
He's a one trick pony
One trick is all that horse can do
He does one trick only
It's the principal source of his revenue
And when he steps into the spotlight
You can feel the heat of his heart
Come rising through
See how he dances
See how he loops from side to side
See how he prances
The way his hooves just seem to glide
He's just a one trick pony (that's all he is)
But he turns that trick with pride
He makes it look so easy
He looks so clean
He moves like god's
Immaculate machine
He makes me think about
All of these extra movements I make
And all of this herky-jerky motion
And the bag of tricks it takes
To get me through my working day
One-trick pony. Paul Simon One-Trick Pony Lyrics

2. He needs to spend a lot more time listening to the protestsors.
Edited on Tue Nov-22-11 01:24 PM by JDPriestly
And he needs to fire the members of his staff and cabinet who favor Wall Street and big business's nasty habit of pushing the costs of its externalities off on the public, onto the taxpayers.

They got bailed out; we got sold out. That, for you MBAs, is about the externalities that you foist onto the rest of society in order to make your short-term profits.

That's what everyone is so upset about.

More bad news about Obama

US President Barack Obama is in the political battleground state of New Hampshire to challenge Congress to extend an expiring payroll tax cut.

His trip comes a day after the failure of a deficit-cutting effort by a bipartisan congressional committee.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-15841480

The payroll taxes translated into plain English are where the Social Security and Medicare benefits come from.

Out of one side of his mouth, Obama says he Social Security and Medicare are imperiled because they may run out of money in 30-40 years. Out of the other side of the mouth he argues for cutting the funds to Social Security and Medicare.

That makes no sense unless . . . . Obama is downright lying about his support for Social Security and Medicare.

As we all remember, during the debates, Obama said he would raise the cap on the payroll taxes to save Social Security. He has not only broken that promise, but he has taken his campaign against Social Security and Medicare a step further -- making sure that Social Security and Medicare will fail by advocating for a continued cut to payroll taxes.

For young people, it makes much more sense for you to pay a higher payroll tax than to have to live with your very elderly parents and young children at the same time in the same house.

I will not vote for Obama if Social Security and Medicare funds are cut.

54. You're not "double-speaking"
it's just that some folks are blinded by the big D next to Obama's name. They think it means he speaks on our behalf - in our interests.
Personal security challenges be damned - he could be venturing into the throngs to get some of the grit of OWS on him. It IS NOT GONNA HAPPEN. So, yes - he's going to make a flimsy attempt at grabbing a handful of OWS's reality (hey! It worked for the GOP when they snickered the ignorant Tea Party!).

The reality is that he chose to ignore his base right after he got into office. Sorry Obama, when you brushed aside the public option, when you've striven to keep our perpetual war machine churning, when you could NEVER find a pair of comfortable shoes - you proved you didn't run for the little guy. Please don't insult our intelligence now.

I voted for Obama as a lesser of evils. And his base IS still with him. He keeps doing their bidding every day. Extending the tax cuts - making sure health insurers are kept healthy - keeping arms makers smiling - helping the poor oil producers have their way - making sure surveillance workers have lots to do - ect., etc., etc.

Edited on Tue Nov-22-11 01:47 PM by Atypical Liberal
Well, certainly not the only reason, or even the main reason.

But don't think that we Occupiers are enthralled with you, Mr. President.

When we have 40 years to craft health care legislation and, when given control of the Congress and Presidency the best you can do is a plan that plays right into the hands of the insurance industry, we've got a problem.

This movement has transcended parties. We demand better than just having to choose between the lesser of two evils.

You're going to have to do a lot better than that to get our support, Mr. President.

And I still see no "mutual respect" moment. You know, in general, people tend to protest things they don't like. Do you really think that OWS protesters are so easily placated that hearing Obama say "you're the reason I ran," when most of what he has done falls under the category of maintaining the status quo for the economic elite, would be enough to melt their resolve into some kind of cathartic kumbaya moment with the pres?

By the way, you do know that it's against the rules to call another DUer stupid, don't you?
