While even the Repugs consider introducing tougher safety laws that would hold retailers more accountable, the folks at Wal-Mart are still fighting to protect their own interests.

2. ALL retailers,
or should I say all major retailers, get their products from the same suppliers. The toys came from Mattel -- is the Union going after them? The dog food also came through a major supplier -- similar situation. The fact is: The Wake Up Wal-Mart people would go away if one thing would happen: Wal-Mart's employees vote to unionize. Suddenly WM would be the place to be and the same folks complaining about the company now would stop. So isn't that a tad...hypocritical? Like or dislike Wal-Mart -- who cares? Don't shop there, don't work there -- no one is forcing you to do either. But this misleading ad makes it seem as if WM has a private pipeline directly from China and that is not true: the products come from major suppliers who are ultimately contractually obligated to provide non toxic goods for the consumer. Shop at Target and K-Mart if you like yet be aware -- the products are coming from the same sources!

4. Wal-Mart has the influence
I know in California (not sure where else) third party retailers are not required by law to pull recalled items from the shelves. Obviously, it would be in the best interest of any merchant to do so but shit gets through the cracks.

Instead of lobbying against measures to ensure product safety (i.e. tougher inspections, increased fines for selling recalled food, etc), why not get behind them and demonstrate some kind of corporate responsibility? Oh yeah, they need to pressure the suppliers to cut corners in order to keep prices low.

I realize many retailers get their products from China but when you have a company like Wal-Mart getting more than 70 percent of their stuff from China, that raises some serious safety concerns. I'd prefer Wal-Mart be the one to help fix the problem but if regulation is the only way, so be it.

The US-based Wal-Mart, the world's largest chain store retailer, has moved its global purchasing center from Hong Kong to Shenzhen, a city in south China's Guangdong Province.

3. Walmart - donor to the Clinton Foundation & Hillary's campaign

Whenever Hillary needs extra campaign cash - all she has to do is tap
Clinton Foundation donors.

The Saudi government and other Arab states have donated at least
$1 million each to the Clinton Library. The Clintons and Bushes have the same friends and donors.
