Rachel Maddow: That’s enough of Paul Wolfowitz

By Roxanne Cooper
Saturday, October 29, 2011

Why is Paul Wolfowitz being treated by the media as if he still any credibility on U.S. foreign policy? On Friday night, Rachel Maddow launched into an epic rant about his latest piece in Foreign Policy Magazine.

“If you were an architect of the Iraq war, you don’t ever get an opportunity to talk about what’s a good idea for war ever again,” Maddow said.

She then castigated the entire Bush administration for being wrong about Iraq. “I’m sorry, when it comes to war in this country, you had your chance. Blew it. No. Wrong.”

She continued, “You are not going to be consulted on the next big idea since you got the last one so wrong. Take up another hobby. Try to convince us to listen to your big ideas on some other subject. Confess before the cleric of your choosing. But war advice? No. Seriously, you went looking for a plan for Afghanistan and for that plan, you went looking to Paul Wolfowitz? The answer is no, no, no. Ten years of hell, No. Not again.”

1. That war criminal should spend his days and nights in prison.
Not try to start another clusterf*ck.

Same with cheney and condi.

NO....They never run out of ways to bottom each other.
Everything they come up with is lower than the last.

Good job Rachel Maddow, nice to see you again. Her show comes on after
I go to bed, I get up at midnight to go to work.

21. I meant more outrageous and creepy, rather than less.
Just seeing either of these blatant troublemakers makes my blood pressure go up... x(

I have often wished that MSNBC would replay the week's shows, like Rachel, Lawrence and Ed, on the weekends, rather than showing that prison life garbage, for those of us who may have missed them during the week. :(

4. Right on, Rachel!
Is this THE most correct segment ever?

But Rachel, the problem is the American media has never made it clear that these neo-cons were ever wrong about anything. We simply do not talk about it. Or, the media might have mentioned in passing that there were no WMDs found and the Iraqis did not pay for the war. But the media is very tight-lipped about anything wrong during the Bush presidency. ANYTHING! As far as the public is concerned Wolfowitz is an expert on foreign affairs.

The problem is the media.

15. Couldn't agree more. Wolfowitz is our own filthy little poor man's
Goebels. He and the rest of the junta who are responsible for destroying Iraq and killing thousands of innocent people in the process should have to pay the ultimate price for their unforgivable act of war.

26. May well be. However, assigning motivation is deep inside slander/libel...
...territory.

Can point out each and every instance of wrong till the cows come home. CANNOT claim he was intentionally wrong without solid evidence.

33. Proove it to the satisfaction of a court of law.
Without a doubt, we know what they did. However, whe do not know with the necessary certainty, no matter how closely we can speculate, WHY they did it. Without clearly demonstrable motive, it's all too easy for a juror to supply a satisfactory motive themselves.

It is safe to say that developing cicrumstances have demonstrated the wrongness of past statements. It is not usually safe to say that there was deliberate malicious intent.

36. he is a practicioner of the "noble lie" he had access to and cooked intellegence that
was later proven to be falsified. I don't care why he did it. It is fact that he did lie. He should be dragged into court.

I do not accept that rich and powerful people are to be given an extra special immunity when prisons are choking to death with people convicted on much, much lesser evidence.

Because there is no will or interest in prosecuting the perpetrators from this administration or the next, does not excuse the fact that he was the principal architect of our assault on Iraq and made no attempt to "safe harbor" his statements by claiming he was voicing opinion. By his position in the government he is to be taken as speaking of factual evidence used to justify an invasion.

He didn't tell the truth, he deceived us. He did it with the purpose of advancing American colonialism into the middle east to take over Iraq's oil fields and sandwich Iran between Iraq and Afghanistan.

Classic neo-lib/neo-con lying to citizens in pursuit of the noble cause. Obama is a practitioner himself - i.e. making people think public option was on the table when he killed it dead months earlier.

Thanks for your reply, although I don't agree with you in the least. Wolfowitz has enough public defenders. I think we should spend more time examining the evidence that will clearly show he was in the decision process when deceiving America. He had means, motive and a preponderance of evidence shows that he should have been charged and prosecuted.

20. And then there's Richard Perle...
To me, Wolfowitz and Perle are the 2 creepiest and most harmful humans on the planet.
If I ever saw either one of them on the street, I would probably end up in prison.

And yet... the important thing to remember here... really, here it comes...

These people accomplished most of what they set out to do!
They set out to steal as much of the world's wealth as possible, to set up a fascistic police state, to completely obliterate the middle class, to create huge profits for oil companies... and on and on it goes.

Really, believe it or not, the W. Bush administration was one of the most successful ever.

30. At 1:15 minutes - the person sitting next to W appears to be a match for Dov Zakheim.
Anyone who doesn't know who he is - should. Start with Wiki. He came from his own company that manufactured remote controls to become the Comptroller of the DOD under Bush-Cheney. The mystery man of the mystery man.- the man of the mystery money. He then returned to his 'business'. I believe he may have been with one of the PNAC companies while he went through the approval process (not sure about the last part). Everyone should know about him. There is plenty on the net.

35. The big problem...
...is that yes, Paul Wolfowitz and the rest of the neocons who sold us Iraq---were wrong. However, they knew they were wrong. They were lying
their asses off just to get us into Iraq.

They wanted Iraq for YEARS. If you read the PNAC plan, it's all in there. Iraq was to be their foothold in the MIddle East. The first plank in their
plan to dominate the region and its resources, using military force and might.

So yeah--they were wrong. However, their "wrongness" was simply the lies and the drama that they used to sell this farce to the American people. They
had to have a big smokescreen--a tale to sell us all to get us on board. It was all lies and they knew it.

I agree with Rachel--Let's not listen to anything these punks have to say.

However, what is so sad--is that their lies and inaccuracies are moot now. The bastards got what they wanted. Iraq first...then Iran, Syria and Libya.

Remember when that Bush aid told that reporter, "...we're history's actors...and we will act...and you will be left to analyze our actions...and we
will act again as you analyze us..." That's exactly what is happening here!

They're moving forward---with more and and more lies. I'm just tired of the post-analysis--several years later--which lambastes these assholes
for being wrong, or lying or contradicting themselves. I'm not criticizing Rachel Maddow. I share her outrage.

However, I really wish that we could go after these bastards and their current actions--with the same gusto and rigor that Rachel has now.

These punk neocons need to be called on the carpet NOW--for their current lies. Like Libya. They lie like pigs every step of the way--to
take over that region of the world and control its resources. It's all in their little plan, which they were kind enough to put up on their website.

"Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event––like a new Pearl Harbor"
