It is clear that the President and much of the Democratic Party is on the side of Wall Street. The "other" party, the party that celebrates greed and ignorance, has been entirely co-opted by Wall Street and the interests of the uber wealthy.

There simply is no alternative to Occupy Wall Street.

...because they felt they had nothing to lose and so could face down the government's violence when it was aimed at them.

Wall Street protestors and the 270M in America for whom they march still feel they have something to lose. It may not be true but they don't yet know real deprivation or real violence. (Speaking now only of the average middle class person--not the smaller groups who have felt the boot for generations.)

Every true mass movement in America that is against the military-industrial-congressional-corporate masters has been shot at, by the National Guard, or the Army or by the Pinkerton's, eventually. My undersatnding is that the Kent State killings essentially ended mass student involvement in the Viet Nam marches.

We need to be revolutionary to the bone and very well disciplined. Without a million protesters in the street this is still just a party. And shutting down the Brooklyn Bridge only hurt and angered ordinary people. It didn't hurt the financial Street parasites because it was on a Saturday. What was the point of alienating the very people we need to attract?
