The Obama administration wants to extend the payroll tax cut to help stimulate the economy. Some progressives oppose this because it could weaken Social Security, but some conservatives oppose it because it's a tax cut for the working/middle class. The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur explains.

2. Payroll taxes
There were only twelve years in my working life when I did not pay into social security. During those years I was a "stay at home Mom." My then husband was paying in the max and paid up before the end of the year. I spent twenty years after my divorce working as a near daily substitute teacher. By this time I was a little short of a doctorate in education and, along with my years as a "permanently certified" teacher in in the classroom, was near the top of the pay scale if hired as a full time teacher. A near cross country move would be required to get a full time teaching position, and family obligations made this impossible. Those in my position did get hired locally, again, if they had close contacts with members of the administration or the school board (I know this having had those same contacts when I was not wanting to work, and unfortunately no longer in place when I DID. This is a discussion for another time.) I worked retail and phone jobs on the side while subbing and was nearly burned out for a number of years while doing so. I took social security at 62 (I am now 66), but continued to work part time and pay in while I did so. I'm not working at this time, but will need to do so soon again. I have never objected to paying into social security and never will. I deeply resent the republican attitude that an investment retirement plan is somehow an unearned "entitlement"

3. Short of hypnotism, can't see how any average joe could be a GOP-er given this
It's so damned obvious. I mean what do these ( working class people who vote Republican ) need to see what's going on? To have their families killed in front of them in the name of free-market capitalism? Who knows, some might, as long as they're "good christians".

I don't know. As angry as this makes me, I can only hope the cons finally shoot themselves in the foot by overplaying their hands. ( apologies for the double trite idioms )

4. Frauds of the highest order...
Now you see why Cenk isn't on M$M anymore? You can't tell the truth like this and
get away with it. He paid for his truth telling style. He even was a little toned
down and they couldn't take it.

"It burns us..It burns us" "I'm melting...." could be heard all over Washington.

:applause: :woohoo: :yourock: :headbang: Keep swinging that Hammer Cenk!!!!!!!

5. Really!!! I have no interest at all in helping the economy.
I live here in the U.S. Why would I want to help the (Indian) economy, "job creators"?
