2012 Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum had harsh words for a woman who approached him complaining that she pays $200 a month for prescription drugs alone. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian discuss.

4. This idiot is the picture of hypocrisy.
Before he (mercifully) got booted out of office, he was really pushing tort reform and a cap on pain and suffering awards.

Yeah..whatever. It might have seemed a little more reasonable if he and his wife weren't seeking more in damages from her chiropractor than he was going to allow the peasants to collect for even worse injuries.

Damn....I thought that booting him from office would put an end to his idiotic ramblings.

5. Sadly, this is how they think unless it effects them.
Until someone goes thru a medical crisis or loses a job, they think the same way. Then they wonder why the govt doesn't help them? Why? Because the pigs you supported stripped away social support and gave the money back to the filthy rich.

7. Let's have a new requirement
Edited on Sun Aug-14-11 06:24 AM by FlaGranny
for all congress people and senators, presidents, and CEO's, etc. Each of them must work at a low paying job and live on $1240 a month for at least 6 months before they are permitted to take office. Out of that they must pay for every single necessity of life. No exceptions. They should have to do this living in the type of home and neighborhood that their $1240 a month can provide. Then let us tell them how lazy and unappreciative they are if they don't like it.

Edited on Sun Aug-14-11 07:04 AM by abq e streeter
But as I always point out here, these politicians are only the symptom of the problem. It's the brainwashed, proudly ignorant fools that vote for them and put them in office that are the disease. Fortunately, enough people in Pa. woke up and booted this guy out. But how many millions; tens of millions who are just scraping by, continue to vote for people like Mr. Santorum? it seems like there is a huge swath of the public that is gleefully choosing to cut their own throats. If so, so be it. They have that right; unfortunately, the rest of us who have woken up, pay for their ignorance.

26. Like I always say about TYT clips
The great thing is instead of watching a raw clip of a crazy right winger a la carte, you get the commentary. So, instead of ending the video because you can't take Santorum anymore, skip ahead to Cenk explaining why Santorum is such a horrible person/fool. Much more satisfying and interesting that way.

We've tried volunteer transcribers but they never work out long-term and they don't have time to transcribe that many videos. We've looked into transcription software and services but again, for the volume we produce they're incredibly expensive.

I'm all for having transcripts, especially for the hearing impaired. As for me personally, I'll always take a video over a transcript, it's much more entertaining and I have the luxury of a good internet connection. I realize not everyone has that luxury, but if they do, I say spend the 4:43, hearing Santorum say it (and hearing everyone speak with their specific inflection that won't be captured in a transcript) is worth it and much more interesting.

PS---I still download the TYT podcast every day, much to the amazement of some. To your point, I can't relate to our members who sit in front of their PC and watch our full 2 hour video show. I love downloading the audio and listening while I drive, walk, clean, exercise, etc. Much more flexibility not having to be chained in front of a computer (unless you turn up the volume and multitask in the same room). We have a free, shorter version of the podcast available M-F on iTunes and Podcast Alley.

43. You do not have to provide FULL transcript ... just some notes on what's being said ...!!
But notice this is why video will never be as popular as written material --

Really the problem is few people have the TIME to watch these videos!!

Granted there are parts of videos that must be seen -- they are generally the exception --

right now can't listen because don't want to run SOUND this late at night!

Agree, there are times when you can LISTEN to tapes -- especially in the car --

But thanks for the response -- and remember we don't need a full transcript --

just give us the highlights -- !!

I agree.... but a synopsis is enough

After all...

many don't have time --
But they have time to read a transcript?

many are looking at it late at night and don't want to put sound on --
Headphones.... earbuds.... remember those?

many don't have the time to watch a video --
You already said that.

But a paragraph or sentence or two summing things up is nice...

This one could have had some more info.

I won't watch any Fox News segment without some kid of summation with it. And even then....

No -- I don't have time for long transcripts, either !!

I never use headphones -- detest them -- and often wait until morning to watch the video --

IF IT IS SOMETHING THAT I REALLY FEEL DESERVES WATCHING.

All we need are a few comments about the video -- !!

Not a full transcript!!

48. At least think about those of us who are hearing-impaired
and have trouble fully understanding what is being said on the video, or can't understand it at all. It wouldn't take much time to at least add a couple of sentences giving the gist of the video. Not all of us have perfect hearing. That has been pointed out many times here, but people don't seem to pay much attention.

.

The line is clear, bright, and wide. So why is the national Democratic Party having so much trouble with the "class warfare" issues?

Could it be the Democratic Party national leaders and leadership agree with the Republicant Party??

Did anyone else see the ad beneath the video for AARP Medicare Supplement from United Healthcare, the biggest ripoff company going today?

Beyond that, how about the basic issue that Santorum is so ignorant to dismiss the woman's concern that drugs are obscenely costly in this country particularly for those on a fixed income, while increasing the profits of 'big pharma' versus the rest of the civilized world. What a numbskull.

And as more and more people end up without jobs that have health insurance and are stuck with the crap we'll get after 2014,, that kind of attitude will go over real big.

I think Santorum can kiss the senior vote bye-bye when that clip gets sent around.

We already knew he would not be the nominee, but this should be the nail in the coffin of his campaign. "Rationing health care" is one of the GOP's mantra when they list the sins of Democrats. That makes Rick a "Democrat" in their eyes.
