1. Neil Degrasse Tyson owns this segment, beginning at the 10-second mark.

2. "Liberal panel" is a misnomer, as it includes Stephen Bannon, who made The Undefeated.

3. Joan Walsh is a MILF.

4. Apologies in advance if this has been posted before.

1. Is there a liberal panel somewhere off camera that we cannot see?
It appears to me the liberals are in the audience going wild when a liberal point is made.

9. In the "new" liberal media, if you're not sympathetic to republican causes,
your liberal. It is no longer an endeavor for the truth, only a battle of interests. Hugely skewed to the right, I might add. I wouldn't put Bill Maher in with that assessment but the operations of media all around him are about money, money, money, money, money.

4. Oh, come ON!!!
She's smart as Hell, a terrific writer, and I find her physically attractive. (You see, unlike so many media-programmed males in this country, I don't define "beauty" as being 18 years old with barely-concealed triple Ds.)

3. MILF!?!? what a sexist, dis-empowering, objectifying statement, SHAME!!!
Btw, Bannon, who is wrong on many things, did nail it about the stimulus package. There was NO multiplier effect, it just went into the coffers of the banksters and multinationals (as was intended).

10. Bannon nailed it except for the part of it being an "abject failure" (a vetted talking point there).
I just hate how it's characterized like that all the time these days. Frankly, the work I'm seeing here on our infrastructure is all from that stimulus and the people employed in those jobs I'm sure don't find it an "abject failure".

Frankly the only abject failure on that stage tonight was Bannon. His unwillingness to see reason concerning the need for revenues revealed his blind devotion to ideology. He'd rather see "smaller government" than to care for people. He - and tea-BAGGERS in general - are all hot about cutting social welfare programs but squeak like little mice when it comes to changing the things that would make a real difference to working people - i.e., universal health care, elimination of these damn "free" trade agreements, significantly cutting military spending, and raising the taxes on the rich who have so thoroughly gutted the lower and middle class by literally stealing our accumulated wealth.

Bannon refused to directly address Bill Maher when asked why they stand behind all these policies that benefit only the wealthy and instead fell back on his ideology. It may as well be a religion with him and the rest of the tea-BAGGERS because they follow these ideas of theirs without regard to honest observation of the effects of the policies they support. They'd just as soon see this country fail than to acknowledge what has demonstrably worked in the past. They have become an irony. They are the ones who wailed and cried about love of country, and now they are the ones cheering on its demise. For what? Can't stand a black man as president or because of some boot-strap ideology that gives them a thrill knowing that someone is suffering worse than they are.

Bannon, in all his calm and eloquent style, is pathetic.

5. What stuck out for me in this clip
...is how teabagger boy revealed their convoluted rebuttal to them protecting the filthy rich. At first he says that they they believe there is a system of socialism for the rich and the poor, and that the middle class is shouldering that burden. Maher called him on it and he had to back off and resort to the old rhetoric that we have heard for years, "we believe that people ought to be able to keep their own money".

11. No people have to pay taxes
They don't get to keep all their money. You can't even have a country without taxes. What these idiots want is anarchy. Anarchy, jail all the bastards!

6. That asshole republican on the panel, all he could do was attack the stimulus & Maher knew nothing
Edited on Mon Aug-08-11 11:39 PM by LaPera
about the good it did, how republican governors did photo-ops and pretended it was the republicans that got the jobs....and never mentioning how republican were against it and how many jobs were saved because of the democratic stimulus bill -.....And what would the republicans of done instead to create jobs instead of the stimulus...NOTHING!

Yet Maher let that republican bastard ramble never once correcting the asshole republican through the whole show could only pound falsely republican bullshit about the stimulus bill - because Maher as usual was NOT prepared!

7. I wonder if panelists are forbidden to call out Maher. He's wrong on so many
issues. They have to be aware of it yet no one points out his mistakes.

12. The MILF think should be saved for a different kind of video.
But I do agree Neil was the best thing about this clip. I like him better every time I see him.
