The "Billionaires" note that people on the street are noticeably angrier with the current state of affairs. WAMM (Women Against Military Madness) has been interviewing people all summer at Nicollet Mall on Farmers' Market Thursdays. We weren't able to get video of all the people who are furious with the possible government default. At the beginning of the summer, people were hesitant to talk with us and now they are lining up to express their frustration.

The times they are a changing....

4. I'd like to address the old fart's
boast that the top 10% of income earners pay 70% of income taxes. The top 10% of income earners also own 70% of the nation's privately held wealth i.e net worth, financial assets, income, property etc. Of that group, the top 1% hold 35% of that wealth. These people only pay income taxes on income they can't declare as capital gains, which are taxed at the same 15% level paid by people with incomes between $8,500 and $34,500 annually. Plus, people with lower incomes pay higher percentages of regressive state and local taxes. However, 87% of all income tax filers pay an effective tax rate on their adjusted gross incomes of about 10%. The top 1% pay an effective tax rate on income from all sources of about 18%. So, the next time you hear this BS from some fool about the income tax burden borne by the wealthiest 10% of earners, tell him he should be paying more than bottom 90% of income earners as a percentage of his income and probably isn't, and he sure the hell isn't being soaked.

7. I know - it's not like these CEO's actually earn $20,000 a morning!!!!
The $20,000 a morning is what the average S&P 500 CEO earns - $10 million a year. Drives me crazy that people think these guys deserve it - that they actually worked for it! NOT!!

5. The pretty young lady at 3:08 hits the nail
I've always wondered what the brains at CATO, and all the Corporatist Right Wing can do to possibly answer her question? What to all the talking head morons at CNBC and Fox Biz have to say about who is going to buy their shit or your services if no one has any friggin' money? Give back you greedy bastards and when we have a 1% or less unemployment rate, we'll give you a refund...as if you'd need it if everyone in this country had a JOB to buy your GD stuff!!!

On to China I guess...

8. They don't care what happens to this country.
If they can sell their stuff in China or India or another "emerging market", they're happy.

9. But, but.... the rich
are the pioneers, and the creators of all that's good in the world!

Without their hard work and limitless intelligence and determination, the rest of the masses would be helpless!

After all, its all the ever-wise CEO's and business executives that create the wealth. Why should they share it with the peasantry that carries out their menial tasks?

:sarcasm:

10. They have so many people hoodwinked - they believe Rush that the rich are the job creators....
of course, 1.6 million jobs last year were created overseas by U.S. corp's and only 1 million jobs here.
