1. Im not convinced one way or the other.

Frankly, those that *should* know keep on giving mixed messages. as if they are afraid to be disproven later.

Those that have a stake in pre-assumed positions, particularly pro-waterboarding/torture folk, but weren't there seem to be sure.

Doesn't matter. torture is just plain wrong.

3. Yes, we have an "official" position that torture is wrong

and is and was of no efficacy - and a subtext that it's not so wrong that anybody should be prosecuted.

Yoo verdict? CIA destroyers of the torture tapes? Just bad judgement. Witch hunts for the doers? Not in Panetta's CIA. Forgeddabout it. Lots of public lip service to the right talk. In reality, no one in government/OLC past or present has seemed to want foreclose on its options-- by actually having a little justice carried out to back up the rhetoric.

4. You can push Obama all you want about....

closing Gittmo but it's not Obama you have to get too....it's the damn congress on this issue that will not approve and fund it....This lady speaks as if Obama is against closing Gittmo.....if she wants to push Obama on this, she is pushing the wrong person! Why do so many liberals forget that there is a congress that Obama has to work with to get things done (including funding for actions to be taken by the U.S. government).

Need I point out that just because something works doesn't make it right. It might work to solve the illegal problem by deciding to shoot all Mexicans on sight, but would that be right? If waterboarding works so well, would Hannity or Cheney use it on their kids?

And no, I don't think torture works anyway.
