I get it, a terrible man is dead. When can we start talking about what really matters, though?

2. Sigh.
I don't feel shocked that you gathered nothing but that out of the video.

I'll leave you to your childish judgments.

4. Sigh
It's a very unpopular opinion, but I'm with you on this. You'll probably get a lot of shit for your vid, but, oh well...

I keep trying to write a longer post but it's not working out. :banghead: I have a lot of thoughts, but I have trouble expressing myself (without putting in a lot of time to write, read, re-write, etc etc...) so I'll just leave it at that for now.

7. People seem to have forgotten what this is all about
The people celebrating the death of Bin Ladin today are essentially cheering on and agreeing with the war on terror. Today was a win for people who believe that America should operate as the world police and should have the ability to invade any country who harbors our enemies. The reality is that most of the middle east hates us and has good reason to and does not want us operating in the region, especially militarily.

Bin Ladins death will be used as proof that the war on terror was a success and as a reason why we should continue our fucked up neo-liberal foreign policies. Today was the day any remnants of an anti-war movement that existed in this country disappears for a long time. We will not leave Afghanistan, we will expand our role in Pakistan, we will likely expand our role in Libya and will undoubtedly continue to exploit these countries in terms of trade and labor.

11. Logic fail - The ending of your video logically disproves your point.
For the first 9 or so minutes, you are making the point that something really horrible will happen as a result of killing Osama Bin Laden...You know, the whole "They are going to be pissed"..."They are going to do something really horrible... remember 911", etc. (I am paraphrasing a bit). As a result of that, I would assume that you meant some nuclear device is planned to go off somewhere or something equally horrible. I sure hope that is not the case, and hope you are wrong....

In the last minute of your video, you make a comparison to Saddam Hussein, saying that the exact same thing happened with him. But, the outcome that you are predicting with Osama Bin Laden did NOT happen with Saddam Hussein.

Overall, I am not sure that I agree with the overal point that you are making, which I interpret as "We should not kill people like him out of fear of repurcussions".

12. Remembering all the LIVES Lost....
seems the most important issue to me. Bin Laden was just a symbol of the things wrong with the human spirit. I don't want to cheer. I just think there is no JUSTICE when the death of one man is compared to thousands. With his Death came no life to return to us that he has taken, and he could not die a death for each life he took. So for those who have closure I hope you can now sleep with ease. I hope you have the satisfaction that you desire. We have an outstanding President who has not forgotten you,Your victory is well deserved, and long waited. My best to you and yours. Now let's hope the troops will be drawing down as scheduled in July. My hope is that healing can start repairing hearts.

14. "so why are you idiots cheering this?"
You answered your own question: they're idiots.

Very concise: (virtual) statement, question asked, question answered -- in 7 words! :applause:

16. Naturally
Because nobody likes a buzzkill. e_e People want an excuse to party and puff up their egos. Don't rain on their parade, god damn it!

USA! USA! USA!

:puke:

And of course people will entirely miss the point of the OP or find some stupid way to try to discredit him.

How exactly does the death of one man somehow make up for, not just the 3000 people dead from 9/11 (which Osama bin Laden didn't exactly kill off single handedly), but also the thousands of civilian deaths as a result of our bullshit war? How the FUCK does killing this ONE guy justify any of that? Oh, because "it's symbolic"? REALLY? Wow.

SMH.

17. Get off your high horse.
Well, when it comes down to it, nothing makes up for the death of even one person. People are not missing the point of the OP, you are simply putting yourself in some high and might position thinking that you are so fucking brilliant that you figured out that killing one person does not undo history. Good for you!!!! Yes, it is symbolic, it is fucking symbolic, nobody is saying that killing him justified the war and all the deaths, so just shut the fuck up!

18. No, actually, I won't
I'm sorry if I happened to offend you, but guess what? I have just as much right to express myself here as anyone else.

Every time I have seen someone post that either they don't care, or aren't happy or celebrating about this, or whatever it is, they have five other people jumping down their throats and it pisses me off. So yes, I'm venting. If you don't like it, I don't know what else to say except, oh fucking well, too bad. You can go ahead and disagree with me, I really don't give a shit, but don't fucking tell me to "shut the fuck up."

You call me high and mighty, I'd say you've got the same fucking attitude. I'm sorry I don't sugar-coat. And I never said I was "fucking brilliant." God forbid I should explain my own god damn position on why I just DON'T feel like celebrating this. I've gotten enough fucking shit for it from friends and "family", I think I have a right to be irritated.

To be honest, I don't even give a shit what anyone else thinks or does in regards to Osama's death at this point. I was frustrated that everyone seemed to be ignoring the reality of the situation, and that every time someone expressed an opposing opinion, they were shot down like they're the scum of the earth. If I had waited longer, I probably wouldn't have posted a damn word.

But don't ever presume to know who I am, or how I should or should not feel and don't tell me to "shut the fuck up."

19. Sorry, I may have been replying when in a bad mood.
My apologies. Everybody has a a right to vent, regardless of whether I agree with them or not. I definitely was too harsh in my reply. Sorry.
