Free speech pre-crime arrest of Charlie Veitch on the 28th of April 2011 for 24 hours, keeping him locked away for the Royal Wedding between Willy and Katie.

*****************

This is really rather disturbing. Charlie specializes in shouting at shoppers that they are mindless zombies of the state, then asking the police for hugs when they show up. He is hardly a notorious criminal or threat. They are afraid of him. And his megaphone. One lone man. Waging his own friendly rebellion against the state.

Said his girlfriend Silkie:
"I am very concerned that not only has somebody been arrested on an issue of free speech, and arrested for something he might say, he's been held for almost 24 hours," she told the BBC News website.

"It's quite outrageous.

2. this guy merely wanted to exercise his free speech
and portray an alternate view on the day of the royal wedding but was prevented from doing so. Those who view the royal wedding displays of the monarchy as a harmless diversion are wrong. They still have power and exercise it in malevolent ways. This is a perfect example.

3. he is hardly one of the Most Wanted criminals they could arrest
I think they just got negative attention from the wrong organization at the Cambridge event.

What a trumped up charge!

4. Bloomberg Did This in New York During the 2004 Republican Convention
Bloomberg's cops arrested potential demonstrators on bogus trespassing charges just to hold them until the Republicans left town.

Today, whenever you hear Mayor Bloomberg's name mentioned, think pig as the operative term to describe him. He's just as much a pig as Bush or Cheney or any of them, only richer.

5. Utterly disgusting.
So called people of "authority" exercising their unjust "power" over others.

This is what will drive the common man to overthrow such powers that be.

How horrific that this is happening in any so-called civilized society. Shame.

6. I'm torn on this one but thanks for posting
Guilting the arresting officers, not logical. As for megaphones detracting and distracting during the 'royal wedding' is a bit like protesting against gays at a soldier's funeral, if that was their plan. Blame Bush and co for the 'preemptive' thought police.
