This video, released shortly after the disastrous election of 2004, can't help but remind me of the battle in WI, today.
The question now is, have we been pushed hard enough to start fighting back, YET?
It’s a good question. No pitchforks and torches after “Bush v Gore”. No riots over the Florida voter suppression. Whimp Kerry conceded after the count fiasco in Ohio. Nothing much seems to get under the skin of “the middle class”. Is it going to take a total meltdown/loss of power?
One thing, though. "The Battle For America" didn't just begin. It's been an ongoing struggle for 230 years, now. It's just that it seems to take so much more to piss off the poor, the middle class, and the disenfranchised these days.
Bush v Gore, no pitchforks and torches. Voter suppression, doesn't make the "news". "Voting irregularities" in Ohio, Kerry concedes the next day. Koch brothers pay for the people's power plant with campaign donations, not a whisper from CNN.
Too many people are worried about "playing fair" when we're the only side that does.
