...Mr. Bush, you have hidden behind the General's skirts, and today you have hidden behind the skirts of 'the last question' at a news conference, to indicate once again that your presidency has been about the tilted playing field, about no rules for your party in terms of character assassination and changing the fabric of our nation, and no right for your opponents or critics to as much as respond.

That, Sir, is not only unAmerican -- it is dictatorial.

And in pimping General David Petraeus, Sir, in violation of everything this country has been assiduously and vigilantly against for 220 years, you have tried to blur the gleaming radioactive line between the military and the political, and to portray your party as the one associated with the military, and your opponents as the ones somehow antithetical to it.You did it again today, Sir, and you need to know how history will judge the line you just crossed.

8. The main point
And sad thing is the right has made this about dissing the General and NOT the message as is what this is all about. bush KNEW by putting a military man up there then had DARE the left put discredit on the military (you know the "if your against the war your against our troops and don't support them" B.S.) Smart move by Bush had he just had Crocker or another civilian employee they wouldn't have a leg to stand on, they'd had to actually address the REAL isue which is the surge is a complete failure.

That in its self Mr. Bush is PATHETIC and disgusting.

Methinks it's something the poster did in processing of the video. Of course, I could be wrong, but I seriously doubt it's a Youtube generated anomaly.

And it's in synch, but the video size is a little smaller. There's a transcript, though!

the source. The video on msnbc, so far, has always been as good as the broadcast http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20896378/ . Plus you can hit the little icon in the middle and increase the screen size.

17. They got the message loud and clear with the Anthrax 6 years ago...
Only Dems got Anthrax, and only the really vocal Dems had their small planes fall off the sky.

I mean what are the chances, Bush... he seems to be alway at the right place, at the right moment, and the stars always align on his favour. I mean he must really be God's chosen one, right?

The has been 0 accountability for what amounts to be the biggest fuck up in American history, there has been 0 accountability for the worst transgression against the electoral process in 200 and again in '04. The only person prosecuted and sentenced gets pardoned, those whose transgressions are to obvious to be whitewashed get to leave as heroes on their own terms, and on and on and on....

If you are waiting for the Dems, don't bother... democracy is dead. For all intents and purposes this is a dictatorship, get used to it. Denial just wastes everyone's time.God speed to the few poor bastards who still try though... god bless them.

I posted something earlier today speculating on the exact same thing. Meaning the anthrax, Wellstone's "unfortunate accident"...I'm not 100% convinced that its gone that far, but yeah, you may very well be right... I'm still clinging to the hope that you're not but its getting harder and harder to be a "coincidence theorist".

22. A lot of people laughed when he made that joke in 2000....
Edited on Fri Sep-21-07 03:32 AM by liberation
...as a candidate about how things would be much better for him if he was a dictator and not a president accountable to the citizens. I wasn't laughing.

In any sane democracy, a candidate to the presidency should not be able to say such a monstrosity and get a pass. Just those words
alone should have been the end of his candidacy or the kiss of death for any sort of viability for his campaign as a GOP fore runner. But they weren't, and I complained about it and people thought I was being annoyingly nit picking, while this fucktard got a free pass over and over again. Heck even people made excuses for his constant mangling of the English language... "Oh, he is not dumb... he is dyslexic" And god forbid an intellectual elitist like me would dare make fun of the poor handicapped son of a bitch born with a silver spoon up his nose.

This guy always gets the free pass because people don't want to even consider the possibility of him being the sack of shit he is.

Even now, with the country in shambles, the economy in the toilet, the single biggest transfer of public funds onto the coffers of a few private entities --every one of which with direct connections to the current cabal in power--, three thousand dead Americans due to the single biggest failure in the intelligence and defence system -- which happened under such a set of "coincidences" as to be almost mathematically impossible through chance alone and whose only beneficiary is the administration in power--, tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of innocent civilians dead under false pretenses, almost four thousand dead troops, and to this day no one even fucking knows how many people actually perished during Katrina. And on.. and on.. and on...

And still some people can't fathom, that this guy could possibly be this bad. Heck, some reporters are still making a case that invading Iraq was not really his fault, he could not be such a bad man... it is just a case of "ooops, faulty intelligence."

Well, he really is such an evil bastard and then some... he is just finishing what his grand daddy started. The Bush clan gets away with it, because they are such a bunch of depraved individuals... that most normal human being can't believe something so perverted could have made it on to the face of this earth. But they are, and they got their "let's play dumb" act down to a fucking art.

At this point I am convinced that Bush could wear a big nice swastika, sporting a Hitler lip "Soul Patch" mustache and give his press conference in his native German, and most people would say that the swastika was just make up running from the heat of the lamps, his hitler's mustache was just that he was in a hurry while shaving this morning, and he wasn't speaking in German just his throat was really shore from all the hard work. People are in such denial, I don't know if Americans are really that dumb or simply a lot of them are willing accomplices at this point. Either is a chilling prospect in my opinion. I am packing my suitcases...

37. You speak the truth, liberation, and do it most eloquently.
Welcome to DU!

One thing: Never make the mistake of thinking Bush is stupid. His misuse of the English language is done to 1) "bond" with the undereducated masses, 2) mislead and distract his opponents, and 3) feed his own sense of superiority by toying with the public. Everything he does is quite calculated. He is a master manipulator who only has a genuine "slip" when he has overindulged.

43. Thanks for the welcome....
... I never assumed Bush was stupid. Au contrarie, the little pervert knows exactly what he is doing. He and his handlers are always one step ahead. He has gotten away with everything, even as far as throwing us a bone in 2006 just to make us think the system is working. If anything, they are some brilliant fuckers. Evil does not imply stupid, not by a long shot. As I said, his clan has the playing dumb act down to a science. Every one thought what a jackass Poppy Bush was, however the old fart was operating at so many levels that made Machiavelli look like a school boy. And look at Barbara, she looks old an wrinkled... harmless enough until she opens her mouth and the forked tongue shows up. With such a stock, I was terrified of Bush if anything... and his intelligence was never questioned by yours truly.

How this little fucker got elected, after poppy had one of the most disastrous presidencies on record (people seem to have forgotten the fun times of 91 when people had to beg consumers to buy something, anything because the economy was in the proverbial crapper) is just a testament of the short collective memories of a big sector of the American population. And these fuckers take advantage of it. The whole clan is dangerous, and I don't trust anyone with that 4 letter last name as far as I can throw them. They are like a family of well coordinated leaches, they suck off the host almost to the brink of killing it, then they let us recover just enough to have enough nutrients to be sucked but not enough stamina to fight the infection back, and they re appear to continue sucking. I can see a succession of different Bushes reappearing into the lime light for the foreseeable future.... sucking us dry and then disappearing just in time for the rest of us to be stuck with the cleaning bill. Rinse, soak, and repeat ad infinitum.. They are the guest from hell, and we are the dumb host... too polite to kick them out.

48. My experience has been that the general populace has a memory span
of 10 years or less. After that, they seem to draw a blank and will buy a "new" product that was invented a long time ago and revived, or buy into a philosophy or religion that was disproven or defunct, or - well, you can name it.

Likewise, they don't remember success or remain grateful.

even though I feel too new be be doing that; seems presumptuous or something, welcoming someone else to something I just joined. Unregardless ( its a Homer Simpson word which makes it equal or superior to real English), glad you found us...I'm still not convinced Dubya isn't an oaf; I think maybe the fascists running the show needed someone truly ignorant to be able to manipulate so completely. In a way, I'm not sure it matters who's stupid and who isn't... its the outrageous crimes these SOB's continue to commit that matter, and the impotence of the rest of us, so far anyway, to stop them...

23. America has become the land of the slogan...
... lots of words not enough action.

I grew up with gun nuts lecturing me about how the 2nd amendment was their religion because it allowed them to keep the government in check and blah, blah, blah. Well, half of our bill of rights is marked out, habeas corpus has gone the way of the dodo... and I am yet to see anyone of these gun toting bozos doing even as much as saying a peep about it.

So I got it, that whole gun, militia, 2nd amendment macho talk was just code for: "Listen kid, I am an old white dude, with a bad case of erectile dysfunction which does not help my case since my dick was the size of a peeled peanut to begin with. So shooting some rounds at the range every other weekend is the only way I have of keeping any sort of connection with my man hood and the loud noises make me forget that I haven't been able to satisfy a woman in over two decades if ever."

This is, I am not holding my breath for any one to even get off their couch lifting a single finger in anger trying to defend their rights. Why would you do that, when we can just make a movie about being brave and feel better about ourselves? Plus you can only get good pop corn at the movie theater nowadays...

44. As soon as my wife can get her license certified in Europe (medical doctor) we're out of here....
Edited on Fri Sep-21-07 01:25 PM by liberation
... I have a research position lined up. I am a scientist by training with some dyslexia so my ramblings are less than optimal to their literally quality (I apologize for that, but there are plenty of excellent writers in this forum who more than made up for my bad writing karma).

I love this country, my father and grand father flew for the air force. My mum and grandma are both Euro born and raised, so I grew up between here and the old country. No where is perfect, but I am seeing the writing on the wall and I am hoping, praying actually -- and I am not a religious person BTW-- that I am way off...

However at this point, I just don't feel like raising a family here. I want my kids to be raised as people not consumers. I don't want to be reminded that this is country is the best place on earth by some toothless uneducated jackass, with a stained wife beater and who has never left his miserable surroundings, back at the trailer park, further than 1 or 2 states. I am tired of being told "America love or leave it" by people who have a confederate flag in their pick up truck, and who don't think about the irony of their stand. I am tired of seeing the Airforce turned into some sort of flying mega church. I am terrified after seeing the MO of the spearhead of the christo-fascist movement that is poised to achieve nothing less than total domination, this perverted mutation of religion which has taken a hold of scores of land locked people who need someone to let them know that their empty lives in their fucking cookie cutter suburbia hells are somehow blessed. And who feel it is their right to point and yell at my agnostic ass in a screeching manner reminiscing to the pod people from the "Invasion of the body snatchers."

I am tired of the fact that most people work more for less pay, and they are not only happy to do so, but will vote against their own interests after standing in line for hours through rain, hail or snow... all with a smile in their faces. And these same idiots are eager to send their kids to die for what they think is defending the right to be fucked up the ass. But most of all, I am just sickened by the fact that I came to the conclusion that a lot of my neighbors would rather go through the most unimaginable hardship as long as it means that none of their precious hard earned money finds a way to help someone in need. Say the word socialism, and some jackass would rather be castrated than have his taxes used to help those in need --however he is A-OK with having them used for things as useful as bombs and POS humvees-- And these people who love to used the word "compassionate," and I find that sickening.

I used to think that this country had nowhere but up to go. We fucking set foot on the moon and kicked polio's ass. We had a cripple recover a country as large as this from its worst economic fall out, and not only that but he dusted himself right after that and fought a world war on 2 fronts and managed to make 3 fascist empires the allies' bitch. And in less that two generations we end up with a significant amount of people who think that humans and dinosaurs walked did not only walk together, but they were budy budy. And a president who is too lazy to even bother making sense, and who can invade countries nillie willie just because he damn feels like it. And a lot of people are A-OK with that, and then is when I see my clue that we are de evolving into something of which I want no part.

God speed to those who decide to fight this tide. I just feel defeated, and I don't know if I want my children to be exposed to such a rotten spirit. And I just don't want to apologize for being a liberal. Since when is wanting peace, freedom, equality, prosperity, and a better world for all considered a four letter word?

Sorry for the rant...

49. Our elected officials ask us for a job because they love this country
and the constitution and are willing to do what ever it takes to uphold that. There are not too many that are there now who are there to do that. I'm not talking about joe shmoe taking his gun to washington and going on a rampage... that would not fly in America. They would say he snapped and went crazy. And militia groups in this country are highly watched. Our govt is afraid of these militia anit-govt types (and some rightly so), but they watch them because God forbid the rest of the nation wake up and join on in...

The post wasn't about the individual. It was about representatives doing what it takes to represent us. AND that means possible attempts on their lives. It is the risk you take when you want the job, just like a cop or a fire fighter.... its one of those.

back in the 90's. Democrat rhymes with 'rat'. Any time I hear someone say that, the conversation goes something like this:

"...Democrat Party..." I interrupt.

"did you just say 'Democrat' party?"

"yes"

"do you have a speech impediment?"

"no"

"then you must be a member of the RepubNazi Party?"

like press conferences because he comes out as a clinical idiot and moron. You can tell he's so afraid of the press core that he has to plant a Fox news stouge in the crowd to ask the last question. If I were in the press core I would boycott his news conferences if Fox news were present. There's got to be a way to make his crude dealing with the American people more transparent.

Call Olbermann out and attack him personally! This latest special comment is all about you and you alone. Be a man for once in your small little insignificant dry drunk wreck of a life and go mano-el-mano with someone who actually understands history and the U.S. Constitution.

YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH, Mr. Bush!

32. Mister O, Sir, Please, STOP calling him SIR or even MISTER he no longer deserves even that ,
Edited on Fri Sep-21-07 11:09 AM by Sam Ervin jret
I appreciate your wanting to elevate the tone of debate to a higher level in the atmosphere of this time in history. We must however, at some point come to the unenviable conclusion that our leader is no a gentleman. We are in addressing him as such after coming to that conclusion adding to his subterfuge and to the confusion of the time. It is difficult for people like yourself, taught to respect the opinions of others, the traditions of your trade and the courtesies of a gentler time to address a sitting president in any way but respectfully. I would ask nothing less than you simply refer to him as George Bush. It is his name. No more no less. No respect. No disrespect

Just the facts.
Facts. Now that should surprise him!

38. listen to the tone of the word
the way he says "sir" gets across how he feels about him. It is the same way enlisted men say "sir" to asshole officers that don't deserve their respect.

52. I didn't say all officers
Edited on Fri Sep-21-07 04:49 PM by awoke_in_2003
just the dumb shit ones (usually junior grade) that like to give orders that can get their guys killed for no reason.
on edit: I know KO is not in their ranks, but the principle applies. The word "sir" as he is saying it is dripping with sarcasm.
