I attended and spoke at a rally today to support the Wisconsin workers. The rally was filled with peaceful people who just wanted to show solidarity with the union employees in Wisconsin and the other states where collective bargaining and workers rights are under attack. I hear some booing behind me and turned to see a man standing on the wall having a mildly heated discussion with a member of the crowd. I went over and started recording. The man said he was a disgruntled union member who didn't want his dues being spent on democratic political candidates. While he argued with one of the local union presidents, I heard his wife arguing with another couple. I went over to her and asked her if I could talk to her. She agreed and began to tell me a disjointed story of communism, group think, Italy, Yugoslavia, Tito and Brezhnev. It is a wondrous tale.

2. What a shame that she fears having union reps. defend workers rights.
She is connecting the word collective with the thought of an coerced society. When all it does is give employees a fair shake in the workplace.

8. She seems to think that "collective" bargaining is the same as
the Russian "collectives". She's clueless.

15. This is a perfect example of why these people are beyond reach of reality.
Edited on Sun Feb-27-11 12:49 AM by CLANG
Their minds are so jumbled with lies and Beck-ian propaganda that their fear imprisons them. It makes me more sad than angry. I reserve my anger for the Becks, Hannitys and Limbaughs of the world.

16. So ignorant it's a wonder they can get through daily life without help
They know enough just to be dangerous. Like someone who knows of a few terms but what they mean, let alone how to use them. She would have not a chance in hell in an actual discussion without the distraction of a large noisy crowd. One on one, she'd be cringing against the ropes as the blows of knowledge rained down. Even so, they vote. That's scary.

17. I deal with a lot of mentally ill people in my job
I talk to them almost every day and this lady sure seemed to have some of the same disjointed thinking and paranoia. I really felt sorry for her. She seemed to be either slightly intoxicated or medicated from her slurred speech and her rambling thought process.
