Rangel speech at rally described below

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) – Thousands of people filled City Hall Park Saturday morning in a show of solidarity with union workers in Wisconsin.

As they waived signs reading “tax the rich” and “save the middle class,” New Yorkers rallied in support of those protesting a Wisconsin bill that would strip nearly all public employees of their collective bargaining rights.

1. The last thing any cause should want is to be associated with Rangel. nt

2. I think working people
need to take their friends where they can find them just now.

3. Do you not like what he says?
Do you not like what he says? Does he seem insincere to you? How about principle over prejudice, of all kinds. He's not a perfect man or a perfect politician, but anyone who stands up and believes these things and says these things is fine in my book. And I say God bless him. And I say it for him more than a bunch of other cowardly representatives who do not stand up and do these things, and I include in the bunch a number of people who might even be popular around here.

6. Yes, he's insincere. He was just busted for ethics violations....cheating on his taxes.
I gave him benefit of the doubt, but when I heard the particulars, I could tell that it wasn't a mistake. He intentionally cheated, while letting "the little people" pay THEIR taxes.

I'll stick with ethical people of principle, who are at a minimum honest about the multi-millions they make.

He should go and hide in a corner, after the shame he inflicted on himself. What an ego. That's the problem with keeping these guys in Congress for so many years; they become waaaaay egocentric and begin to believe their press, some even thinking they're above the law (or ethics rules and regs).

If he were a Republican, you'd think the same thing. I think that way, regardless of party affiliation.

4. BULLSHIT!
Rangel is an Honorable man that supports the right of all Americans. If you don't recognize that you have no place on the DU.

7. He's an ethics violator. That's not a matter of opinion. That's a factual statement.
It has nothing to do with his party affiliation.

If he were a Republican, you'd be crucifying him for being a multi-millionaire cheater. Which he is, or so say his peers in Congress, including Democratic leaders. They hated to do it, but it was so blatant and unethical that they had no choice.

He should be hiding for awhile, before coming back out after shaming himself.
