Fired Up Missouri:

" At a time when not many people are willing to stand up for what they believe, Tony Viessman was a refreshing addition to the political scene. He not only stood up, he and his friend Les stood in the hot sun at Obama rallies with their homemade sign that read: "Rednecks for Obama." Tony, 76, a retired Missouri Highway Patrol officer and life-long Democrat, even drove to Denver for the Democratic Convention in 2008, where he was interviewed by a CBS reporter.

After getting Obama elected, Tony revamped his sign to read “Rednecks for Robin” and went about the state on behalf of Robin Carnahan’s senatorial campaign.

Tony died on Thursday in Pennsylvania of complications occurring during heart surgery. Friends will gather for his wake at the Rolla Country Club from 3-6 p.m on Saturday. All would agree: Tony Viessman was one hell’uva good Democrat.
