Aired tonight on BBC Four: "From Dallas to Grand Designs, TV continually rubs desirable lifestyles in your face, making you feel inadequate in the process."
Part 2 of the show is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FU2T58mdD4

Content warning: Would be rated TV-MA in the USA for language.

1. This is great.

Just finished part 1, moving on to part 2 now. This chronicles how television, as was envisioned when it was first developed for the masses, has been the ultimate societal consumer indoctrination tool bar none.

Very well, done with a tight balance of humor and appropriate cynicism.

On Edit: Finished both parts. Very well done and worth sharing. It should be food for thought for many.

3. Underscoreing why
unplugging totally from television fifteen-years ago changed my life for the better! It's like meeting Morpheus and being shown what the Matrix is.

I would also add that there are several people that I know who have, both by my influence and their own understandings, cast-off the corporate indoctrinations and propaganda for good as well. They see things in new ways and do not regret ending the addiction.

People talk about quitting smoking because it is bad for your health, but how many can seriously talk about quitting corporate TV and get anyone to take them seriously or consider them sane?
