This is the awesome video for Al Gore's movie, An Inconvenient Truth, sung by Melissa Etheridge. If you have not seen it yet, you must. The DVD goes on sale November 21, and can be pre-ordered from Amazon.com. I have been an environmentalist all of my life, and for me this is the most important movie of our lifetime.

3. The cavalry has arrived...

I read (and cannot find now) a description of a workshop held in Tennessee this past summer in which many people were trained to go out and give the "Inconvenient Truth" presentation across the U.S.

Al and Tipper had everyone come out to their home for dinner the first night and Al spoke to the crowd. Al stood up front and looked out at the crowd. He said that he has been talking about the climate crisis for decades and had occasionally looked back over his shoulder to see if the cavalry was behind him and... nothing. Then he turned his back to the crowd and looked over his shoulder, smiled, and said, "And now you are here!"

During the rest of the workshop, the attendees referred to each other as 'the cavalry.'

Melissa is a very important member of the cavalry.

I have asked to be part of his 'cavalry'... will hear if I am chosen for the next training session in January in a few weeks. Heard that he was asking for 1000 people to do the training and 2000 replied. That's a lot of troops on the ground!

They have a link at their site about taking action, and I believe it was posted on their blog there. I read that too (and saw some pictures of his beautiful surroundings there) and it made me cry, because his conviction on this issue that is really so sincere came shining through. He has waited so long for people to see what he is talking about and to come join him in this fight. That is why I applied to go, and I am hoping so much that I get that chance because I consider myself a member of that cavalry as well. But even if I don't get that chance, I will continue to do what I can with the little resources I have to spread the word. And that is his message here. We can all be members of the cavalry, and by doing so we can be the ones who truly change history for the better. And Melissa Etheridge is an awesome human being and I am so happy she did this.
