Tasteless and exploitive, or edgy and creative?

I unsubscribed from groupon this morning.

1. It was horrible
Core message: "The people of Tibet are being driven to extinction... which means great prices for you!"

It gave me the kind of feeling I'd get if I walked into a restaurant and it advertised a dozen different endangered species on the menu.

6. they did another similar one on saving the whales...
that was a bit insensitive as well, but I didn't have nearly as much problem with it. The Tibetan one was so exploitative and pretty disgusting.

10. Save the people or save your money? Disgusting! If Groupon existed during WWII....
They would have advertised the great deals on Deli food and bagels. Things are more important than saving a few bucks on food.

11. The fact is the ad has put the Tibet issue on the table
Edited on Mon Feb-07-11 12:41 PM by randr
Now if only people would focus on the Tibet issue, rather than the crass commercialism, we might get some where.

13. I did not think the ad was ok, I thought it was in poor taste
I am still glad some people may just ask themselves, "what is going on in Tibet?".
