Rachel discusses how the great red and blue divide in the US has disappeared, at least when it comes to the revolution in Egypt. Mitch McConnel, John McCain, and John Boehner all having no complaints - thus far - with the Obama administration's response to the growing discontent there.

But "beyond the water's edge" is a whole 'nother story...

For instance, Rand Paul of Kentucky is calling for an end to all foreign aid, including Egypt as well as Israel.

John-the-'stache'-Bolton, and Michigan Congressman Thaddeus McCotter are openly siding with Mubarack, against the opposition movement, with McCotter saying that "Right now, freedom's radicalized enemies are subverting Egypt."

Rachel says that according to the right-wing blog Red State, "The unions, and the media, and the State Department are fomenting chaos in Egypt."

From the Red State blog, "President Obama's State Department, unions, as well as Left-leaning media corporations are more directly involved in helping to ignite the Mid-East turmoil than they are publicly admitting."

Hmm, as Rachel pointed out, "What, no ACORN?"

Then way, way beyond the water's edge, Pam Geller of 'ground zero mosque fame,' "Ms. Geller's take on what's happening in Egypt right now is this, says Rachel, "Obama has secretly been supporting this revolution for three years...anyone who sees this as a good thing secretly dreams of the annihilation of Israel."

Also out in that way, way beyond region, the website christwire.org believes that "The escalating crisis in Egypt could become a defining moment for Sarah Palin...Governor Palin needs to speak out publicly and forcibly for an American-led invasion to protect our interests in North Africa. As the largest recipient of foreign aid next to Israel, the United States has a tremendous investment in keeping Egypt stable and relatively terrorist-free...Upon her direction, other Western nations are sure to join us."

Rachel points out that Palin is innocent, this time, as the invasion is not her idea but the suggestion of christwire.

2. Oh dear, Rachel fell for the satire

Christwire is a spoof, which NBC fell for last year - you'd think they'd have told MSNBC:

Christian conservatives are fighting against a lot of things these days: Obama, a Democratic Congress, illegal immigration, gay marriage, gun control activists, environmental extremists, Islamic fundamentalists, people who enjoy dancing… the list goes on and on. You would think that would be enough to keep any major American voting bloc busy. But the folks at christwire.org are an ambitious lot, who can seriously multitask when it comes to fighting the culture wars. Which is why writer Stephenson Billings has called upon his fellow worshipers to decry and boycott the evil that is… Bill Murray? Really? Because I assure you the legendary actor is just as upset about “Garfield” as the rest of us are. Anyway, here are some of Billings’ reasons that Murray needs to be shunned.

The Huffington Post has fallen for it in the past too. And the Sydney Morning Herald. Did we at DU fall for it, as The Atlantic claims? Well, one reply explicitly marked it as satire within 10 minutes of it being posted, and everyone else was laughing, so I'm not sure.

4. Yeah, but you're not doing it for a living

It's a well-done site - the kind of things they write are only just beyond what definitely real organisations are saying (and not as out there as some sites like 'Rapture Ready', where I really can't tell who means what they write, and who are people trying to take the piss). Really, her researcher ought to have checked - there's even a Wikipedia entry that says it's satire.

Its not too hard to realise its a hoax when u actually go on the site. Some headlines:
