1. I like the idea of ending earmarks
That would give Obama the ability to steer federal dollars where he and his cabinet secretaries see fit.

In other words, no money for red states.

3. Rather antithetical to the process, don't you think?
I understand that that whole balance of powers thing is pretty pesky - but your comment isn't a whole lot different from Bush's 'easier to be a dictator' remark, is it?

2. Poor Reid, he has a problem with being Politically Tone Deaf.
There are issue you handle privately and issues
you can handle publicly.

Reid it seems has never learned an age old lesson.
Never make a comment in Public unless you know
absolutely you can win.

How many times has he had to back down???No, Senator
Reid you did not look tough.

5. Reid had every intention of being very public about the ' earmarks ' issue.

4. Reason why he wants earmarks .......
Easier to shift a percentage of the millions to offshore accounts.
Sound loopy ? Lok at the corruption at the municipal and state level
with representatives going to jail. Think it doesn't go all the way to
the top ? It sure does. Wait until Wiki shows the files they got hold of.

6. Earmarks Schmearmarks
http://texshelters.wordpress.com/2011/01/27/earmarks-schmearmarks/

It's a silly debate. And Obama is wrong on one point: vetoing ALL earmarks. Is he going to veto an earmark for vaccines for the elderly and children in cities, or Chicago? Nope.

People are misinformed when they infer that all earmarks are bad. They aren't. Some are useful.

However, the late night behind the scenes manuvering to get your pet projects passed needs to stop. They need to open to the light of day so Congress can honestly debate and vote on the spending.

Moreover, earmarks are a small part of the budget (less than 1%) unless you consider larger spending bills that get passed that wouldn't otherwise without the earmarks in them.

Peace,
Tex Shelters
