Keith, please, if you are watching and listening, don't abandon your loyal viewers. We need you, the world needs you, I need you.
Comcast did this. From now on, I'm no longer watching MSNBC.
I report the news of the day, and do this video with the help of my friend.
Mr. Olbermann, I respect any decision you make, just please don't go silently into the night. Start you own news channel if you have to, so you can keep fighting for US. I'll watch, and I won't be the only one...
If Keith Olbermann's gone for good, there is going to be hell to pay. And Comcast, MSNBC, and the Right is going to be on the receiving end. After all, it will be coming partly from me and my friends, loyal fans of Keith.
Thanks for watching, listening, and hopefully acting.
DUers- I warned you guys about this. It's time for action. Join me.

1. Olbermann can't go to another network yet per his settlement with MSNBC.
There's a noncompete clause. 18 months before he can go back to broadcasting.

2. Noncompete clauses are not challenge-proof
My brother, after being terminated from a company he was working for, started his own business (the same kind of business). His previous employer sued based on a non-compete clause in his contract. The court, however, stated that non-compete clauses cannot be used to prevent an individual from making a living, and thus only apply when the employee leaves voluntarily, not when he or she is terminated by the company.

3. I think it depends on the state.
California Supreme Court: Non-compete clauses are not enforceable
POSTED BY CORY DOCTOROW, AUGUST 8, 2008 10:05 AM | PERMALINK

The California State Supreme Court has ruled that non-compete clauses in employment contracts are not enforceable in California. I'm reminded of the study from the Duke Center for the Public Domain that concluded that the reason that the tech corridor on Route 128 near Boston had grown so much more slowly than Silicon Valley was that Massachusetts has enforceable non-competes, while California does not. The researcher concluded that in California, the best talent moved to the best companies, while on Route 128, crummy companies could lock up great people for years at a time through non-compete agreements.

. . . .

Californians have the right to move from one company to another or start their own business and can't be prohibited by their employer from working for a competitor in their next job, the state Supreme Court ruled Thursday.

In a unanimous decision, the justices said state law since 1872 has forbidden what are called noncompete clauses that restrict management employees' options after they leave a company.

Not sure how this affects settlement agreements. That could easily be a very different matter.

7. Ugh,
I've seen your vids on YouTube and they're terrible. Sorry, but that was just embarrassing... Not trying to be a jerk or anything. I just think when people see strange vids like that, it does more harm than good and gives credence to the whole "looney left" thing. Maybe if you got a better mic, dropped the whole "Weird Liberal Head" gimmick and stopped saying, "Hello 'Murica!" people would take you more seriously. Sorry.

13. WLH, You go man! Fuck these Limp Libbies that accept the Right's "Liberal Loony" BULL SHIT!
Edited on Sat Jan-22-11 02:05 PM by theFrankFactor
You're a young man with tenacity, passion and prescient commentary. If you were my son, I'd be FUCKING proud! You'll find your audience like I find mine - weed through the people that hold you back and be true to yourself!

This place is a mixed bag at best. DU is a magnet for more and more piss warm "Democrats" that take their cues from the DLC and submit to right wing Yellow journalistic definitions of themselves.

Keep on WLH! If YOU want to change... change. If you don't, don't.

14. Thank you very much sir!
I'm honored, and like you, I'll keep fighting the good fight. We must, we can, we will continue to rise and unite to defeat the far-right. After that, we enact true progressive reform for America, and hopefully the world.
No one can stop me, because I won't let them slow me down, let alone hold me back, especially the people on here who claim to be liberal even as their words and actions imply differently...
Keith Olbermann may be gone, but I'm proud of you, for continuing to stand up for us. People like you, Keith, and Mike Malloy give ME hope for the future.

seem quite happy about that, don't you? Anyway, whether he was fired or not is disputed, but either way, my point stands. And really, calling me and idiot? Look who's talking, LOL!
